What's new

Remember the Alamo Dome - Jazz @ Spurs 3/23/2018 6:30 pm MST

He's not our best from an efficiency standpoint.

It is irrelevant. Others would not be efficient either if they had to create 15 shots a game for themselves. He's got a difficult, but important, role on the team. A role that nobody else can fulfill. He's a big part of the reason why the Jazz are where they are. And he'll get better over time.

Also, the turnover on Donovan is weird. The one where he saved the ball from going out of bounds and flung it to the other side of the court. The boxscore didnt count it as a turnover. It seemed like a bad call from the refs to count it as possession for Utah. I'm not completely sure how that is ruled though.

I kinda like the fact that we were right there with them while we were playing like hot garbage and their vets were playing out of their minds. Good sign.

No. The post guy wasnt beating us all night. LMA was destroying us with pick n pop and then by driving off closeouts. He was playing well from the post too, but I'll take my odds with him trying to shoot over Gobert in an isolation.
Gobert is a great team defender, not so much in isolation. Late in the game, and especially late in the shot clock, Mitchell and Rubio, both lightning quick guys, had opportunities to drop down. I say make them prove it at least once or twice before you abandon the idea of team defense.

LMA made 0 shots in the OT besides an offensive rebound putback because Gobert had to come over and contest Gay's drive you stupid ****. Gobert locked him down in OT.

I'll let the numbers speak for themselves.

Donovan over the last 14 games:

108 FG - 252 FGA = 43%
29 3FG - 112 3FGA = 26%

~yikes~
Jazz 11-3 over that span

Donovan averaging 23 points

Somebody has to score to win nba games. Donovan is the best option for the Jazz.

All he did tonight was miss open layups and foul shooters for and 1s.
He was 1/2 from the field. So at most he missed 1 layup and that missed layup led directly to a Favors putback dunk. He had two fouls. One led to Gay FT's and one led to a Ginobili and-1. During O'Neale's time on the court he was a 0 net rating. Not much to complain about.

Of course it's not irrelevant. Donovan doesn't have to create that many shots. He's perfectly capable of breaking down defenses and getting the ball to the right guy. All I'm saying is that I'd like to see him do that a bit more and shoot unnecessarily difficult shots a bit less. He's still our go to guy in crunch time, no doubt.

I missed most of the game. I just caught the end of regulation on the car radio during the drive home and the end of overtime on tv. Man this one hurt just because of how close we were.

Also, can the discussion about ROTY finally end? Give Donovan his award. 35 points. 16 in the 4th qtr and OT. Back to back to back 3's in the 4th to get the Jazz to OT on the road against the Spurs. He's ROTY.

Sorry, I didn't realize I was talking to a 12-year-old. Not worth it.

You didnt realize you were talking to someone who actually watched the game and has the ability to look at play by play to confirm what he saw is what you meant to say.

Jazz played great overall. Ok Mitch is struggling from three.... He's a Rookie and it happens. He still came in clutch and gave us a chance to win. No one else on this team and few players in the league have the ability to give us that chance. Don showed determination, marurity, bravery and leadership. Great game.

Rudy had troubl stopping one of the best 5/4's in the league on his career night?!?!?! Welcome to the NBA. LM went off and the only person who could have stopped him tonight was Christ and I didn't see him on the floor.

Quinn is a COY candidate and doesn't need your opinions on substitutions or how his players will respond in any given situation. He only spends 80 hours a week around them.... Still we have know it all jerk off's pretending that they know better than one of the country's best professional basketball minds... Check your selves. No really. Take stock on how stupid you come across trying to sound like you really have a better idea. You don't. If you did you would be getting paid for that idea not stroking your ego behind a keyboard.

Great game, great season, playoffs or not. This team will be a contender as the years go by.

Doubling against the Spurs is just the most foolish thing I can think of. If their player wants to isolate in the post against the longest player in the NBA you let them do it. You live with the results. Next time though they should just grab some more defensive rebounds.

Obv if he gives you an opportunity to dig down on him, you do it (like when he tried backing Rudy down from 16 feet, allowing Donovan to dig down 1 pass away since the Spurs spacing was horrendous at that moment).
