Have we ever had a team this unified?

I have been watching for a long time and I don't recall a team even being close to this unified. The finals years there were often spats or at the least love/hate relationships between foster, malone, Larry h, and osterfart. There were a few years with Millsap and memo that were pretty good, but AK, Boozer, and slick wildly all had their selfish moments... not even to mention coach.

This is a VERY unique couple year and it was very good with Hayward last year but clearly they have built on it.

We have fully upgraded over Hayward. I think Hayward has carried the resentment of that RFA season for a long time and that ends to get in the way of chemistry even if it is bottled up. We see none of that now. Not a bad egg in the bunch.

It truly is great seeing them work hard for each other. Also, no egos. I've noticed that every time that Don is interviewed, he does everything possible to deter attention away from his great performance and praise his teammates. I am a bit sad that there has been a lack of Rudy salutes this year, if any.

Yeah, it's called Joe Ingles. He's the first round MVP. That guy is messing up OKC so hard and getting them rattled. He'll never put up Haywood numbers but his intangibles can't be replaced. His defense has been stifling and his antics are the type you love if he's on your team but hate if not.

It's incredible how QS has these guys unified. He's found a way to play to the strengths to a bunch of not All Stars (even though we have at least 2 IMO).

Not an ego in the bunch. EVERY SINGLE VET on the bench exploding when Mitchell hit that last 3. Mitchell talking Crowder down, the bromance between Rubio and Mitchell at the end. To a man they love playing together. The only team I can think of with that dynamic in recent memory were the warriors last year. And look where it got them (along with their 73 all-stars of course).

Did you miss "One more" after the game from DM? That kid's head is growing as big as Rudy's and Ingles. They know they can hang, but it's unselfish ego.

Not only that, they had Karl Malone, who notoriously blasted teammates, Larry Miller, and the media every summer. Mailman was amazing, amazingly durable and was the last Jazz player before Mitchell who could take over a game on-demand.

Karl was also a prima donna who thought he deserved much more recognition than he ever got and he let everyone know about it.

You had Big Dog, Karl Malone, John Stockton, and Jeff Hornacek who were all 10-year + vets with families plus a bunch of young pups (Shandon Anderson, Bryon Russell, Ostertag, Eisley) who were really trying to make a name for themselves in an NBA that was beginning to pay out big contracts.

On top of it all you had hard-*** Jerry Sloan who was throwing mo-fros like Chris Morris in the dog house arbitrarily and on the regular and Larry Miller making his presence known every so often.

There was a lot going on for those teams. They were very professional, but I would never describe them as a tight-knit group.

I know I was there. In high school. Watching on KJZZ.

The bigger the opposing star's ego is, the more effect he had on them and it's wonderful for fans to see. They just can't accept a math teacher-rec league player having the audacity to get up in their grill.

No team that had socially awkward Stockton, AK or Hayward as their best or near best player was closer than this group of guys. Stockton was a good leader and a great player on the court. Stockton wasnt close to guys like this team is off the court. AK was busy playing WOW. We all know how close Hayward was to his teammates, lol.

I don't remember ever thinking of him so negatively, though I agree that he was no genius. The thing I remember most about him was that he was the Jazz's first tattooed player. It seemed like a turning point that they would sign a guy who had chosen to do that.
