2019 Offseason & Free Agents

Al Farouq Aminu will be unrestricted again in the summer of 2019!!! 40% 3pt shooter on over 5 attempts this season..

He looked really physically outmatched. The ABA isn't one of the top Euro leagues but I guess they all play in Euro Ball (although I don't think his team is qualified this year). Like I said he did not look like an NBA level athlete or player in summer league, but things can change. I wouldn't be very excited about the NWG we saw last summer. I'd still prefer to pick up a developmental PG if we need a 3rd one next year. Let them compete in camp and see if NWG looks better.
The thing that is odd about NWG is that John Stockton was really high on him. Stock has been around the block.

Who’s in this draft that could be in our range who is a sort of do it all 3? We need someone who can create, shoot, penetrate, attack the rim, rebound and pass some. Someone with at least solid length and athleticism.

Is Musa this type of guy potentially? I know he’s really skinny but I don’t mind that so much. One can gain muscle and size and strength some.

Chandler Hutchison maybe?

Draft BPA with a premium placed on wings, stretch bigs.

In FA we need someone else that can create offense for himself and others. Not easy to find... Tyreke Evans is the best type I can think of. Maybe Dante helps with this, but he might also just suck.

Does anyone else agree?

Yeah Chandler Hutchinson has legit guard skills, thats how he's worked himself into the 1st rd conversation..

I was a staunch supporter of Hutchinson LAST YEAR... I used to put him at 60 on my mocks and say something like this kid is good enough to get drafted this year, i don't care what the consensus has to say about it...

Kevin Knox... Thats who you're looking for. Musa is one of the top options as well, he's not as safe as Knox tho...

No UK bias involved, if u are looking for a jack of all trades like that Knox is that guy, he's got one of these skillsets thats like a SG mixed with a PF..

If there's reports in private workouts that Kris wilkes(UCLA) is crushing all drills he is a real darkhorse to watch too. He's got lotto talent if he puts it all together... 36% from3 on almost 5 attempts per game is a HUGE number for him too, that is a real sign of progress, at the FT stripe, not so much. WIlkes in his purest form is a scorer, he's got tools for everything else tho..

His stats are completely unimpressive.

I didn't want to start a new thread so I brought this one back up. With all this LeBron speculation (is he going to create another super team) and the knowledge that Durant is returning to Golden State to continue their run of dominance, is it really in our best interest to go in win now mode by simply keeping what we had going forward?

For example, if we keep Favors and Exum, that's pretty much our offseason with the addition of #21 and maybe a solid MLE vet. * And for the record, I think there is a zero chance we sign Favors to a one year deal. For 2019, if we want to keep Rubio, we have no money in 2019 if we decided to keep Exum and Favors in 2018.

So really, what is the point of so many people treasuring all this 2019 cap space if it really isn't going to be there anyway if we just stay the course? Wouldn't we be better served using expiring contracts now, take back a bad contract that goes through 2019 and pick up what could be a great asset? If we were to take back a bad contract, we still have the rights to Favors, Exum and Rubio so we could keep them if we wanted to pay them and potentially the luxury.

What is this mythical great asset for taking on a bad contract? Most teams can just stretch that contract if they really need to. And how do we take on that contract now? We're over the cap.

Nobody is stretching a guy like Noah, Deng, Parsons, etc this year. Nobody wants $8-10 of dead money for 5 years.

I want Nkilitina. He and Mitchell are close, he's a force on D, and NY might let him go since they traded for Mudiay and there are rumors Kyrie might want to go there next summer.

I might be dreaming but a man can dream

If he's been relegated to playing behind Mudiay that is a pretty damning assessment of his ability

Meh, I'd rather go shopping at the deadline with $24M in expirings. I'd take Otto Porter off Washington's hands. Might even be better deals than that.

We don't do a good job of shopping our expirings at the deadline because we fall in love with our rosters and we don't like risking continuity just because an expiring is valuable. I wish that wasn't the case, but its just not our way.
