Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Weird deal for Ariza.. why only 1 year?
Because they wanted place holder salary. On his end, someone offered twice as much as he’s ever gotten paid for a season as a guy nearing the end of his career. He can sign somewhere else next season.

CP3's contract indicates a cap somewhere around $100-101. That's going to squeeze Utah's options. Most likely the same team with a few minor bolt ons or slight upgrades.

It's a risk, but he's an All Star-caliber talent who fits our timeline and plays a position of need. Put him on a strict workout regimen and regulate his minutes.
I take it you didn't watch him in the playoffs. He was trash. Like Rodney Hood pooping his pants bad.

Stopped through Vegas and had to make a quick stop for this before PG signs here.

Damn, would have loved to have Ariza on the Jazz.

Not for $15 a year. Happy for the guy finally getting 'a' payday, but that's his last big contract unless he plays really well. Starting to think Phoenix is going to challenge for a playoff spot under Igor and very soon.

Theme emerging: Lots of iffy looking deals for teams tight on money. Could play out well for the Jazz in RFA if Favors doesn't work out. Also limits the suitors for Exum, reducing the chances of a poison pill DRASTICALLY.
