Damn, if true, that's REALLY cheap.
If we strike out on everyone then OK, but he'll be a pretty significant downgrade from Favors IMO.Randle would be a good replacement for Favors and we could probably get him cheap considering the current climate. I would see him as a temporary fix but young enough to be a great trade chip especially if we got him at a bargain.
No, but getting those three there to make the pitch in Atlanta was time consuming. I think it's pretty ridiculous that the whole Favors' situation wasn't sorted out either middle of last season (when we decided not to trade him) or right after the playoffs. Why was it necessary to fly to his house on the first day of free agency when most of the valuable players were taken?
I think they went out there to beg him to come back. We will see...
A few points:
One -- do cell phones not work at airports or hotels?
Two -- doesn't it make sense to keep DL, Quin, and Tony in close proximity to each other for easier consultation in case other offers/deals materialize?
Three -- "Sorting out" the Favors situation last season would have required a significant overpay to get Favors to agree. Why would DL do that?
Four -- They didn't go to Atlanta to "beg" Favors to come back. Do you really think DL is that stupid?
One - you're so clever
Two - of course
Three - Knowing what Favors wanted and expected should have been established before the lockers were cleaned out. We shouldn't have had to go to Atlanta to know what we needed to keep Favors.
Four - My opinion is that they went to Atlanta to change his mind about leaving. It's not about begging or stupidity.
Five (yeah, I added one) - I wonder how many unrestricted free agents get the entire delegation of Coach, GM and Assistant Coach from the team they were just on come to see them the first day of free agency. I doubt it happens that often.
So you think the Jazz front office is just stupid.
They've proven to be in free-agency the last couple years. It was pretty obvious to anyone without blinders that Hayward was gone. The fact that they were so oblivious to it was mind boggling. Someone who is staying doesn't act like Hayward acted. I hate to think where we'd be without Mitchell's addition and emergence. So you think the Jazz front office is just stupid.

If Mitchell is going on social media to try to convince Favors to stay, you know that Favors must be pretty conflicted. No other team sent a delegation to see him (according to reports), we sent the farm to meet with him, and he still hasn't said he's staying.
