Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Not to rely too much on technicalities, because your last sentence may be correct even now after the moratorium ended (8 minutes after you submitted the comment), but it would be strange for any RFA to have received an offer before the end of the moratorium. No offering team wants to give the player's original team extra time to think about matching. And the clock only can start ticking after the moratorium ended.
That is technically correct but teams start negotiating and come to a verbal agreement with offers starting July 1st.

I feel bad for Hood. He showed a lot of promise and it turns out he just mentally cannot handle the pressure of the pro game. Sad really. I hope he finds a place he can flourish and enjoy the game again, as it is kind of obvious he has lost that sense of joy in basketball. I really liked him and thought he could be a great player, probably still can, if he can get his head straight. Good luck Rodney.

agree.....well said

Gary Trent Jr. signed a 3-year guaranteed deal with the Blazers. I like Trent Jr. and think he has the potential to be a quality starter. Blazers obviously feel that way too.

I'm good with our off-season so far. The non-guaranteed second year for Favors was the perfect move for us and good money for Favs. I'm happy to see Neto back. He's a good player in the minutes he provides. They paid Exum a little bit more than I expected, but it wasn't terribly bad. Basically we run it back next year and leave our options open going forward. Not a bad plan at all. Hopefully we can keep Niang. He's looked good. I wouldn't be surprised if we made a minor trade or two. Maybe clear up some roster spots. They could end up dealing someone like Burks.

I really hope we get to see what this team can do when fully healthy this year. I want to play GS and/or Houston in the playoffs healthy this year.

Nah to me O'Neal would get the minutes before him based on just better defense alone. Then after that I'd rather give minutes to Grayson to develop. He's my guy.

Fair enough. It's a damn shame how Rodney spiraled into oblivion though.

I would be really surprised if they did anything else this summer other than guarantee Udoh and Jerebko.

He does seem like a nice guy and I hope he bounces back. He will have plenty of opportunity to next year with the Cavs. He can prove himself and get paid next year.

I dunno what went on behind closed doors, but for the Jazz to have given up on a player, something must have happened.

Kanter.
Lyles.
Hood.

There's a trend.
D-E-F-E-N-S-E

The Jazz value it more than most teams - especially since Rudy broke out in 2014/15.

All three of the guys who wanted out are fairly soft, offensive oriented guys who struggle on defense. I think they realize that they don’t fit the culture and there’s some friction there as a result.

This is gonna be exciting, will the Bulls match? You've got to right? How can you lose a young guy like that for nothing?

Yeah but if the Bulls don't match, the Kings suddenly have a young & exciting team:

Giles
Bagley
Bogdonovic
Lavine
Fox

It even looks like a piercing arrow.
I’ll give you Bagley and Fox. . . but Bogdonovic is one dimensional, Lavine will be massively ovpaid and Giles has major healt concerns.

Where you see “young and exciting” I see “the Kings still doing Kings things.”

Lavine is NOT a near max guy. That contract is insane. There’s no way I’d match that.
