Article on Exum being 3rd star for Jazz

So our breakout star is going to be a scorer off the bench? Interesting.
Ever here of this guy named Manu Ginobili?
The bench is where we need him, and would make our team much better coming off the bench spelling Rubio Mitchell and Ingles.
This is what I think as well.

Don’t think he will ever be a good shooter and won’t be a good enough finisher to be a star. I think he will be a great defender though and a decent offensive player.

He already is a good finisher and getting better. I believe he will get to the point where he will shoot 32-35% com a year to year basis once he gets in a couple injury free seasons in a row under his belt, and I don’t see him as all that injury prone, as long as he can avoid 230lb idiots from jumping on his head in preseason.

So you think Dante is the next Manu Ginobili... Interesting

i love how everyone just forgets that Rubio is on the Jazz. Why can't he be our 3rd star?

Ummmmm. It's clear that our third star is actually JINGLIN' JOE, Yo!

The dude is poised for another jump. In 2017 he destroyed every team at least once last year. If you don't believe me, go back and read the post game threads on wins. MOST talk about Joe. Give credit where credit is due. JOE INGLES for the All Star three point contest baby! Or has he deceived you all into thinking he is slow and 'not really an all star'. All part of the deception my friends.

For ya'll RSL fans out there, who wouldn't like to watch Joe Ingles bar fight Luke Mullholland? That battle would force Marvel to change the name from 'infinity war' to 'meh'. If Joe were a Comic Book superhero he would be Gambit. Relatively unimpressive at first glance, but then he pulls an ace out of his sleeve faster then you can react and blows your team to pieces. Of course, he smiles the whole time and plays it off as a 'deck of cards'.

Oh yeah... and that staff he carries around? Well... let's just say that he 'carries his staff well'. ;)

um, sure, why the crap not. nobody is going to say that manu isn't a star, yet he comes off the bench. is exum the 'third star'? well, was manu? (spoiler alert, yes he was). unfortunately, we have three players for two positions, answer: either trade one or have one come off the bench. i like option b better.

great defender and adequate/reasonable offensive player who can get to the line and make 3's even at mid 30s% is all we need him to be. If he's more than that look out

Agreed

Exum isn't even Favors 2.0 yet. Favors has done way more at this point than Exum, even if the reason is injuries.
Can Exum turn into a star, yes. Are the odds in his favor, I don't think so. I think he can turn into a strong contributor to a great team.
If he turns into something even close to a star and the Jazz stay somewhat healthy, I might actually believe we have more than a low chance at getting back to or winning the finals.
If DM, Gobert, Rubio, Favors, Ingles, Exum are all playing at a high level, and Niang is giving us some good production, how can we not hope and believe?
A lot of ifs and buts in there though.

I think people are undervaluing Exum, and I get it. He’s had an injury plagued beginning to his career and his second full year healthy he didn’t play well and had a ton of DNPCD’s.

My argument is... look at how much improved he was when he came back for the final 14 + playoffs. There was no reason to make him a rotational player in the system, yet he earned it, even with the improvements and growth, and it was considerable growth, he is still incredibly raw with tons of room to get better, and better he will get. He’s still learning how to play the nba game. When he figures it out, it will be a beautiful thing to behold. I’m thinking a juiced up Devin Harris from his nets days. There’s no doubt in my mind he’ll have every opportunity to get there with his work ethic and desire to be great.

I see his physical gifts and speed with that length, and his ability to lock guys down on defense. He might be able to be as big an influence on a game if not more then Gobert, and that is fascinating to think about.

Lock down defense and a blossoming offensive game. And he's shown he can distribute and play within the system. He may not become a star but he'll probably be on the fringe at a minimum. I'm surprised he still has doubters, TBH.

Because he hasn't done anything yet.
Professional skepticism, despite the flashes.

He's shown quite a bit though. Considering his circumstances you've gotta be excited about his development.

He's going to learn a lot from Ricky, Donovan, Jingles, etc. Think of how different the team was the last time he had extended playing time.
