Another day another shooting - 11 dead in Pittsburgh

Im just happy for all the peace that trump has created in his presidency right idestroyedthetoilet?

I mean, if you're gonna have armed guards at the synagogue, why not have them at all the churches as well? How about all the schools, hospitals and post office? Where does it end? Isn't there a better solution?

My (gentile) wife and I were at a local reform synagogue a month ago because my employer, Jewish Family Service, were having our annual meeting/dinner. She asked me why there was a security guard at the door. It seemed crazy to her and I couldn't really relate the fear to her. I work at a specifically Jewish retirement home and next door to our city's Jewish Community Centre. I go into work every day thinking about what happens if or when some whacko comes in and starts shooting. I've had training specifically for mass casualty events and I'm a freaking ESL teacher. And I live in one of the best countries in the world. Welcome to our life.

Welcome to the decline of American culture and the failure of "unbridled" capitalism which is the culprit ... before the crazies come out, notice I used the word "unbridled."

One thing not being reported much is that “globalists” for right wing crazies means “Jews.” It’s been that way since the 1930s... Hitler used it to denounce banks, military commanders and socialists who surrendered (giving up Germany) and made global concessions, but also an attack against Jews.

Trump’s attacks on “globalists” might’ve seemed like a mere attack on globalism. But it was understand by the radical right as a Call to arms against Jews.

Melbourne has a large community of survivors, along with New York it is one of the centers for studying the holocaust outside of Israel, as far as I know we have armed guards here at Synagogues, Jewish Schools, the Holocaust Museum and its considered normal, so im not surprised they have armed guards in the US which is one of the most heavily armed societies in the world.

Unicorns and rainbows to the victims of this tragedy. I mean what more can we do than to wish them unicorns and rainbows?

"In the wake of the worst attack on Jews in American history, all of us, but especially American Jews like me, face a similar decision. We either support Donald Trump and the movement of hate he has unleashed, or we oppose it. There is no neutral ground, no justification that the benefits outweigh the costs. You’re in the smoking section, or the no-smoking section."

Bowers frequently posted about the “migrant caravan,” a group of several thousand refugees walking to the U.S.-Mexico border from Honduras to seek asylum. Preventing refugees in the caravan from entering the U.S. has been a major talking point among both right-wing commentators and President Donald Trump, who has spoken about it in recent pre-midterm election stump speeches.

Bowers’ anti-Semitic posts and his apparent disdain for the caravan are tied to a viral image that appears to show refugees hopping onto the bed of a truck that had a Star of David visible on the side. The image has been widely shared on far-right forums like 4chan and the Russian propaganda operation USA Really. He reposted a screenshot of a video of the caravan that that aired on Fox News, as well as other networks, that does not mention the symbol.

Bowers frequently reposted conspiracy theories about the image of the truck and reposted comments about it from other Gab users.

That anti-Semitic conspiracy theories posited by the users that Bowers later reposted are still viewable on Gab.

In another post, he linked to a directory of synagogues participating in an HIAS event, National Refugee Shabbat, that was held last week, saying he “appreciated” the list.

Bowers also reposted a user who imploring others to be forewarned of a “false flag” attack before the midterm elections — a false claim repeated by far-right and some mainstream conservatives this week about the 14 explosive devices sent to prominent Trump critics.

Bowers appeared disillusioned with Trump for not sharing Bowers' anti-Semitic and extremist views. Days after Trump declared himself a nationalist at a campaign event, Bowers claimed that Trump was a “globalist” and not a nationalist.

Just curious, AR-15 defenders often claim that it could be used for self defense and hunting. But who here actually owns it for that purpose? I’m curious.

I think Fox News and trump should reconsider the words they use. When talking about “globalists” and “making nationalism great again” these are obvious dog whistles to Nazis. We’ve now had a week of republican inspired terrorism carried out by deplorable right wingers and Nazis. Just the other week, Kevin McCarthy (Rep) tweeter that this caravan was sponsored by 3 prominent Jews (one being Soros). And we wonder why anti-semitism crimes are skyrocketing?

Words matter. I don’t think Trump, his cult, and his media apparatus can just shrug this week’s terrorism off without there being dire consequences.
