What to do if D-Will 2 slides

Chad Ford is reporting that Kanter has slight edge over Derrick Williams for #2 pick. If D-will2 is available at #3, what do you do? A lot of teams have offered packages for Minny to get Derrick Williams. I love Williams, but if we are offered a package that includes a pick and maybe a SG/SF, you have to think about it right?

I'd trade Williams for a 5-7 and next year unprotected. I KNOW this will not be a popular answer, but I'm not as sold on him as most others.

Yea, he will have value, and one of those teams would likely be willing to crap their pants over him.

This all hinges on how stupid Minnesota is. If they want Kanter all they have to do is trade down with CLE. Seems unlikely they would fail to do that.

Except we might take Kanter..?

The other thing is clearly MN is fielding offers for the 2nd pick. Most likely team that would trade for would draft DWILL.

Link?

You take him then pick up Oden in the offseason.

Certainly you have to listen to any offers, but honestly I think Williams is the best fit for this team of any player in the entire draft and I'd have him #1 on my draft board if I were KOC. He is an impressive athlete with really good size and instincts. His outside game would be a very nice addition and help keep defenses honest. He can create his own shot and is a decent ball-handler for his size. His defense is under-rated. He took some plays casually on defense as he was needed to do more offensively or was blowing out opponents, but I didn't see it as a big concern. He'd be a steal at #3. He'd be an ideal replacement for AK47.

#1 Williams
#2 Irving
#3 I am equally happy with Kanter or Knight

The one player in this draft that is getting a lot of love around here, but I'm just not felling it is Singleton at 12. I hope we end up with Burk at 12 but Jimmer, Klay Thompson, or one of the euro bigs would also be preferable to me. I feel like we'd be playing 4 vs 5 on offense and that is not a good thing with such a young team. He'd be a great fit on a more experienced and deeper team.

We go with Derrick Williams obviously. Why would you trade someone who fits our most important need? Kirilenko is a free agent and Miles blows. Hayward looks set at shooting guard so you go with Derrick Williams at 3.

Most people don't think Williams can play the 3 because of defense, I think he can though. They believe he can be a very effective stretch 4 but we have 3 possible PF's in Favors, Al and Milly

We can always trade later on. Most experts have him playing SF both ESPN and NBATV think he would be better suited at the 3. He is a great perimeter shooter too.

It's not just a defensive issue with Williams playing the 3 spot, imo. His handles are suspect for an NBA sf .. too many turnovers and too few assists (at the college level playing PF to assume his offense will translate well to the SF in the pros. He may be great, in fact, I think he will be, I just think he's a stretch 4 and entirely redundant on this team.

Draft him and be happy you got one of the 2 best players in the draft.

As far as making a great trade to a team in love with Williams - don't think that's a likely option because if teams really wanted Williams they'd trade with Minnesota who would be happy to trade this pick - it sounds like Phoenix is the only team with legitmate interest - and they're not offering enough.

I'd be estatic if the Jazz end up with Williams, but 36 hrs before the draft I'm not putting too much stock into this report - remember last year when it came out a few days before the draft that the Nets were looking at Wesley Johnson instead of Favors?
