2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

No he isnt. AD isnt going to guarantee to stay in Utah, especially if Utah trades all it's good players to get him.
All it's good players? He said he wouldn't trade Ingles or korver or Crowder for AD

I think a lineup of DM, korver, Ingles, AD, and gobert with Oneal, X, Rubio, favors off the bench is amazing.

Or DM, korver, Crowder, AD, gobert

Or Rubio, DM, Ingles, AD, gobert with Crowder, Oneal, X, and favors coming off the bench.

Being unwilling to trade korver for AD is crazy imo. Agree to disagree I guess

If 10 1st round picks and Korver got us AD, I would do it.

That's better.
I saw you saying you wouldn't trade korver or Crowder for AD and called you crazy. Now maybe you and cy see why and agree with me.
That is an insane thing to say.

For those who would trade Favors + 1st rounder for Harris, I'm curious about your reasoning for including the 1st rounder beyond having reached the conclusion that Favors doesn't fit our team and a general desperation for a second scorer (who also is a shooting/somewhat play-making 4)?

After all, there are some things that might suggest that a straight-up swap could be fair even acknowledging that Harris is better at creating his own offense:
- Favors has a better contract situation
- Clips need a good center (esp. with who they're likely to go after in FA) almost as much as Jazz need Harris.
- Favors is a far better defensive player
- Fairly close statistical productivity between the two players (though obviously with different patterns)
- Only 1 year (exactly) age difference
- Both seem to be consummate professionals, perhaps Favors even more so

To make it happen or to show Harris we really value him.

As far as your comparison of the players, production and whatever else: these things don’t exist in a vacuum. Harris is an incalculably better fit given our roster construction, considering we’ve been having this debate about Favors for over three seasons.

He's better at things that are more scarce and yes a better fit because his skillset is more flexible. Favs is best used at a position we don't use him all the time and is a position that is really crowded.

It ain't too hard to understand.

I'm dead serious. I don't know how long you have been a Jazz fan, but there aren't that many guys who are good AND love being a Utah Jazz player.
He’s not a Jazz fan.

I mean when even I approved of the trade you know it must have been a good one.

To be fair though I don't think the reactions were all that mixed. I know hack hated the trade but he is an idiot. I think thee hated it. Who else though?
I think like 80% of jazzfanz thought it was a good trade for the jazz

I’ve since changed my stance on the trade. Two reasons I hated it.

1. I had a giant soft spot for Burks. He’s one of my favorite players, as much as I love Burks, that’s how much I hated Korver for worrying more about his stats over getting wins to help the jazz have an easier road in the playoffs.

2. I felt like giving that wiz second rounder was way too much. That pick could be a glorified first being a pick in the 30’s plus then a second 2end rounder. It seems a little much. Still not sure why we needed to throw in extra to help a tanking team clear space for a guy on an expiring contract they probably won’t resign unless he signs for cheap.

Memphis really sucks now... I'm mad we had to play them when they were good.

Getting housed by an AD-less NO. Anyway... they are done wonder if they finally seriously re-build. I don't love the Conley fit because of age/contract, but wonder if they can move him.

I'm over the Conley idea. I have faith in Mitchell and Exum for the long term future.

I would do whatever it takes to get JJJ though. Take Parsons, take Conley, send picks, whatever.

it's too bad we have the very effective Royce O'Neale these days cuz I've noticed Deandre Bembry causin a lil commotion over in the east

if i'm Utah I think I try to make a play to contend this season before LA brings in every ****ing free agent available-- I think Golden State is shaky (Cousins looks slow on defence, Draymond and Klay have had bizarre years, and their core might break up this season), LA isn't a threat rn, neither is Houston, and frankly neither is OKC.

Honestly, if Harris is attainable for Rubio and a protected first, or Favors and a protected first, you gotta do it.
