2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Favors is a ****ing awesome player! I have no ****ing idea how people think he's overpaid. This is insanity. He's underutilized more than overpaid. He just has the regrettable fate to be playing on a team with a top 3 center in the league. I posted those numbers before here....

Favors without Gobert on the floor(i.e. Favors at center) is averaging per 36: 19.6pts/13.3rbs/1.7ast/2.1blk/1.3stl on 64% shooting. Do you know how many teams in the league would kill to have a center like this?

I hope Jazz wouldn't be throwing in any assets in these talks. Like Faves and Sef for OPJr. No picks. I guess Bradley if they wanted him. That would be the only way I could wrap my head around that deal.
They’d be sending assets.

lmfao at the idea of Favors being a MLE player, that's way more of an underpay than his current contract is an overpay. He's on a very fair contract. I think if he played full-time center, he'd be looking at 15 million per year type offers.

To add, even with Favors and Gobert on the floor together, Jazz are still a positive unit and soul-crushing defensively.

It would have to be a pick.

Won't be fun for Robyn and certainly not what Gordo signed up for... and his old college coach rejecting him... it would be so great.
Went east at least to some small degree to be an all-star. Not that that will happen soon (if it did), but traded to NOP pretty much guaranteed no more all-star appearances.

Yeah, which is why I think they could do a Conley deal and keep Favors. Keep the strong 2nd unit center lineups and improve the shooting enough with the starters to make the lineup better.

Why would the Pelicans take on a bad deal like Gordon's AND trade their mega star....?
Gordon has showed enough flashes of being who he was in Utah for a team to have hope in him rebounding. If your goal is to retool and still be a competitive team and not tank, getting Brown/Hayward/picks is a good deal.

I haven't tried to make a deal work, but does it work? Like... can we get enough outgoing money? What would that trade look like?

Rubio, Exum, Sefolosha +picks?

I did a deal that got us both Conley and Otto earlier this week that I thought was promising but it required putting in pretty much every big contract we have(including Favors)

And keep in mind, there really isnt a huge difference in Utah getting a player who cost 20-ish million and a player in the upper 20's/low 30's. They are going to be over the cap and not able to sign anything outside the MLE regardless.

I'd keep AD at that point and try to make it work if Celts weren't throwing in Tatum.

How do you figure? If Jazz signed a $20 mil per they could still potentially have another $20 mil in space.

Yeah, it would have to be a 3 team deal where you send Rubio somewhere else.

Well lets do it then...

UTA trades 2 1st round picks, Dante Exum, Derrick Favors, Thabo Sefolosha, Ricky Rubio
UTA gets Mike Conley, Otto Porter

MEM trades Marc Gasol, Mike Conley
MEM gets 2 1st round picks from the Jazz(put whatever protection would make sense), Ian Mahinmi, Derrick Favors, Dante Exum

WAS trades Otto Porter, Ian Mahinmi
WAS gets Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Thabo Sefolosha

I continue to believe that this is a very workable starting poing for a trade.
