BREAKING NEWS - Minnesota telling other teams they're taking Enes Kanter at #2 over D-Will 2

Williams gives me great anxiety. On one hand, his numbers are unbelievable and he's brilliant. On the other hand, his numbers really ARE unbelievable and he might not have a position. And it immediately increases issues with logjams at the 4. He might be the player Beasley was supposed to be, or he might be Ryan Gomes. There's something about his attitude that I don't like either. But you can't pass on him if he's there at 3. You just can't. Not with knowing Cleveland would love him at #4 at the very least.

This draft just went from riveting to insane. I'm hoping this makes the Cavs just pick Kanter #1 and slips Irving to #3.

This is really not bad at all. Sure, this team will not contend next year, but a year or 2 from now, Favors, Hayward, Jimmer, and DWill will be a few years in the League and might develop into star players, while AJ, Millsap, and Harris are solid veterans, who are still young enough. I think core of Favors, DWill2, Jimmer, Hayward, Favors, AJ, Millsap, and Harris is going to be really exciting in a couple of years.

It can be real. Let's just hope both DWill2 and Jimmer slip to us.

Eh, my theory on all this draft stuff is that closing and merging threads is a nightmare, so I'm hoping most of it fades into oblivion after the weekend. Though if someone else wants to merge and close them I don't care either.

As to the general rumor, hope it's true. Would love to see DWill2 fall to the Jazz somehow, but I'm still not buying it.
 
I just don't get why you'd say you are taking kanter as a smoke screen. Everybody knows 2 is the pick in this draft that can be had and if you get it you can have your choice at either kanter or Williams. It's not like kanter is getting past 4 anyways at the earliest. I guess some people may target both Utah and Cleveland has potential trade options to get him, but it seems like williams is the consensus better player.

While I think Minnesota is trying ot make sure they get the offers if there is a team targeting kanter, I think what they have actually done is risen the price of the jazz pick because it seems like Williams will be there at 3.

With as dumb as Kahn is, KOC probably convinced him to do this saying that it would help out Kahn in the long run.

I think I actually posted my off-season plan a few days before you made your sig. I remember because I was struck at how similar they were. (My plan called for getting Williams with their first pick.)

The only advantage I see to this being a smoke screen to to make Clev panic on there first pick. If Clev is really wanting an Irving/Kanter combo out of this draft (it was a good possibility according to the mocks last week) then Minny taking him at 2 derails that. (might be why the Jazz are putting the Kanter love out there also). If might make Clev think they need to take Kanter or Williams at #1 in order to get Knight at #4. They just might have a great deal in place if they some how get a shot at Irving thus the smokescreen. Because a Kanter/Williams and Knight draft is better than an Irving and ? draft. Just a thought.
 
What can Kanter do better than Dwill2?

Kanter is 2-3 inches taller
Dwill2 can shoot better
Dwill2 can dribble and drive better
Maybe Kanter rebounds better maybe
Defense?
Passing?

I know Kanter is projected to play center and Dwill2 is trying to be a sf but for argument sake (maybe reality) lets compare the 2 as pfs.
 
If Kanter DOES get taken by Minnesota, the team that probably gets screwed is the Cavs. Utah likely takes DWill - just too good a prospect at an immediate position of need. Then the #4 player is Knight, but the Cavs already have Irving. Would they then go Valanciunas or Vesely?

Ben10 has a good point. Maybe Minny is really Cavs panic and draft Kanter. Then Irving is there at #2 and the TWolves would definitely get offers.
 
I immediately thought it was a tactic to scare CLE into trading their four for Minny's 2 with other major consideration. However, it could really play into the Jazz' hands. CLE could trade their 4 for our 3 and we get Knight and their '12 pick or ?????

I would do that trade once we know for sure that irving and williams are not sliding to 3.
 
Agreed, this is simply Kahn trying to force Cleveland into either trading up for #2 or taking someone other than Kyrie #1 overall (which would increase the trade value of the wolves' pick exponentially)
 
Perhaps they decided that he's the best player available?

I actually think this is probably the real thing. Why would they draft another SF?

Draftexpress changed their mock draft to us drafting Kanter. Williams had a good one hour run. I guess Givony is calling Kahn's bluff after initially buying it.

Possibly, Kahn is likely jealous of the fact Cleveland could be getting Irving and Kanter so is messing with them. Givony has now moved Wiliams back up to 2. We our slotted on his board now for Kanter and Kemba Walker at 12, quite a free fall for Walker if true.
