2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Good breakdown.

I would say the only teams who really have the shot and motivation are:

- New Orleans: if Washington really likes Randle or Mirotic, then they might go for it. Plus, their pick will be better. They are desperate for a deal.

- Blazers: they seem like the type team who would try to steal the deal from us. Would they have the pieces or even trade Collins?

- Charlotte: maybe they get desperate enough and throw some picks, Monk and other stuff at Washington

- Detroit: a team that seems desperate for anything

- Sacramento: they could take back Mahinmi but they can't send a pick until 2021
Who da **** is that?

Uh, son, there ain’t a draft no more.

You mean there was one?

I really hope the jazz try their hardest to get porter. Though slightly undersized I feel like he is a perfect fit for our stretch four and our second shooter. I honestly think his deal is not so monstrous when everyone sees what players will be getting signed to this summer. Also by acquiring our “FA” early via trade we give ourselves a nice mid level to sign another good piece. From my perspective looking at realistic options both in trade and FA as well as avoiding the redundancy of continuity OP jr is a good take away given age, defensive prowess, and shooting splits

Hmm, so Wiz fans don't seem to think Favs+Thabo+1st is enough to get it done. Can't say as I'd be willing to really go an higher than that.

There are a few other things we can do to slightly sweeten the deal. For example, we could do the following deals:

- Favors, Thabo, and our 2019 1st for Porter

upgrade to:

- Favors, Thabo, Bradley and our 2019 1st for Porter
If they like Bradley at all, this is a deal that gives them a long term piece.

or upgrade to:

- Favors, Thabo, Neto, Bradley and our 2019 1st for Porter and Dwight Howard
This trade almost completely gets them out of the luxury. And they would dump Dwight's $5 million for next year. I hate this, but I could see Washington trying to push it.

or slightly upgrade to:

- Favors, Thabo, our 2019 1st and our 2019 2nd for Porter
Maybe even add another future 2nd

I think the Wizards would prefer Rubio over Exum, stop gap PG to put beside Beal on an expiring deal, and between letting go of him and Favors they're clearly out a ton of cap space to potentially add a piece in the offseason.

By the way, Porter weighs 20-30 pounds less than Joe Ingles. Don't think that's gonna work at the 4.

There's no doubt Porter is a better player but all things considered, Bjelica fills what many people see as a glaring hole in the roster, and the best part is he is not on a backbreaking deal.
Exactly. If you used Exum to get him, you actually gain cap space for the offseason, too.

Sounds good to me

That's a good point. I don't like it, but a good point nonetheless

Usually, I would agree with this assessment. However, Gobert is a complete game changer. When you have elite players like Gobert, you have the luxury of doing other things.

Like with Golden State - Draymond is so dynamic on the defensive end that they often go with Draymond at C and 6'6" 210 pound Iguodala at PF.

Porter gives us so much comprehensive ability on offense and enough height and length on defense. But if a team does want to go big on us in the playoffs, we still have Jae.
