2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I honestly don't think Bradley is ever going to be an NBA player.

I would certainly not ever plan on it... it he surprised me then great.

If Favors loves being here and loves being a member of this organization and wants to be part of winning a title here, he should accept the role. He has only averaged 15 minutes per game the last 9 2nd round playoff games. He is such an asset, but mainly as a backup to Gobert once we play the great teams.

If he wasn't making above market value for a guy playing less than 24mpg, I would feel for him. However, we paid him quite well this summer. So if we get Mirotic to provide the much needed floor spacer, then Favors can accept a few less minutes per game. And we could rest Gobert more as we get closer to the playoffs.

I really think we can get Mirotic for Thabo and a combination of Udoh, Niang, Bradley and even Neto. Add in a couple 2nd rounders, and I think NOLA would bite. They are probably holding out for a 1st, but who is sending that for an injured expiring PF?

I get it... but he's a free agent... keeping Niko means his option ain't getting picked up. While he made some extra dough and is a chill dude it's still a lot of money and he's human.

I do think Philly would do a little more for Niko... in the dunc'd on pod he went for a 1st to portland... Harkless went to Sacramento, so there were other parts. We likely have cash and some cap space we can eat, but our seconds are high 40s or low 50s... not much value there.

If we get Niko, I'm resurrecting the hundred page Niko thread.

If we are willing to spend $33 million on Tobias Harris, why wouldn't we want to spend $37-40 million on Mirotic AND Favors? I personally wouldn't spend much over $20-25 for Mirotic. We have a bunch of money under the luxury so we can afford to pay Mirotic and pick up Favors' option.

As for what it takes to get him, I'm not sure. Thabo, Udoh and 2nd's relieves NOLA from any financial obligation for next year. NOLA might get a 1st from Portland, but that's going to come with a big contract for 2019-20. Maybe we send our first, but I just don't think it's worth a 1st. I'll be pretty shocked if NOLA gets a 1st for hurt expiring Mirotic.

I would too for what it's worth... I just think there will be suitors with really good seconds.

Tobias is just a lot better than Niko+Favs. Watched him a lot lately and he's just carrying that team right now... he would be perfect. If we got Niko/Favs we can still go hard at Tobias and have the Niko Favs to fall back on. Limiting minutes for Favs/Rudy/Crowder/Niko may get more out of the group as a whole... coaching staff would need to do some ego management. IDK... could work well. Gives another potential hot hand... when we get a good Ingles/Crowder/Ricky shooting night its such a huge boost.

He was very obtainable last year, too.

Exactly and we had a megathread for him... he's equal to or greater than last year's obtainability. I think you are gun shy... I need you to remind me why he is the answer.

I think those who want Niko assume Favors will be traded, or at least will not have his option picked up.

I was responding to these two posts. I should have quoted them in my last post.

I would rather have Tobias than Favors/Niko too, but Favors/Niko is pretty comprehensive post cover.

In December and January, Niang is playing about 7.5mpg. Gobert is playing over 33mpg. Jae is playing around 30mpg. Favors is playing around 23mpg. Ingles is playing 33mpg.

I'm very certain that Niko and Favors would both get about 20mpg if we eliminated Niang while giving Jae, Joe and Gobert more rest.

How would we possibly find minutes for Favors, Crowder and Niko?

Favs becomes exclusively a backup center. Niko or Crowder start. Favs would go down to 14-16 minutes per game if everyone is healthy. Crowder drops from 27.5 where he currently is to 23 ish and Niko picks up the 23-24 minutes per game. Rudy likely drops a few minutes a night, but for Crowder and Niko I think those minutes are fine.

Favs has to sacrifice his starting status and 1/3 of his minutes... he would likely be salty about it and rightfully so... I think it would hurt our locker room a bit. Maybe not

The Niko thread followed by creating game threads killed my work productivity for 3 months.

Read my post above. There is no reason Crowder, Ingles and Rudy should all be playing 30+ minutes per night. And we don't need Niang at all. I think Favors might give up a couple minutes, but he shouldn't fall too much below 20mpg. And considering how we need to rest Rudy, there are games when Favors can play 30 minutes.

Niko has a calf strain right now... so you could probably bring him in slowly with Niang like minutes.

BTW guys... did you see Niang was really good the other night... and he did it when it mattered... I have pulled all my real estate on Niang Island off the market.
