I don't know if the fan said what he said or not. The Jazz should interview everyone around and find out. If he said anything out of line then ban him. but Westbrook was out of line as well. There is NOTHING racist about what was said, and he hid behind the race card to deflect from the fact that he has thin skin and overreacted. He hears something wrong, then tell the security and have them deal with it.
He may be Italian. Italian immigration makes up a large portion of ethnic Argentina.Wait, Scola is Argentinian rather than italian I think. I'm not sure I guess.

Shouldn’t the first step be determining what really happened? If this fan or fans broke the code of conduct, then appropriate steps can be taken. If Westbrook broke code of conduct, then fines or suspension may be in order.
But to paint an entire fan base with a racism claim doesn't fly. There are jerks, bigots and racists in every state. I’ve lived in Oklahoma. Trust me, they have their share, too.
So a white man can't say anything to a black man because it might be construed as racist? Is that what your are saying? RW overreacted, plain and simple. We'll see if there is any evidence the fan said what RW thinks he said, but even if he did, I doubt it had racial undertones. Should he be judged soley on RW interpretation of what was said?I actually agree that the knees remarks were more likely homophobic than explicitly racist. But here's the thing. As a white person, I don't get to decide what counts as racist against black people and what doesn't. To deny that the remark could be understood in a racist way is to be ignorant of the perceptions and experiences of many black people in America. A white man berating a black man with commands about kneeling down (and using language like "acting a fool") can easily be understood in racial terms to anyone who is familiar with the history of slavery and race relations in the United States. And you don't get to decide what counts as racist against black people and what doesn't.

I'm not a history expert by any means, but I swear I've heard it said in movies before to slaves. This guy doesn't look like a genius himself, you're right, it's probably a homophobic slur though. Were slaves known for being on their knees? I honestly have never heard that. I thought he was referring to fellatio though after looking at the things posted in this thread he is obviously a racist piece of ****
I'm actually on Westbrook's side on this one.

Only issue is multiple folks are corroborating Westbrook's story and the fan's twitter timeline isn't exactly speaking volumes about him. Long story short, this guy is smelling like a turd.
On other news, DM's response to this was absolutely flawless.
Grease-y in that caseDude, sometimes they are just greasy. By the way do you say "grease-y" or "greezy"?
Good take. I hadnt thought of that way the phrase is also used.I take it as what a cop says to someone when they’re arrested. Maybe Westbrook took it as a white guy telling him to get on his knees as though he were being arrested. Just guessing.

I find it interesting that people seem to think stereotypes are completely made up or something. A stereotype starts with some behavior, occurring frequently enough in a given context that people begin to associate that behavior with specific groups or situations. It means it has happened enough that it is what people begin to expect to happen. Of course then the stereotype takes in a life of it's own as people being to believe it based in hearsay and not in direct observation. But somewhere along the line it generally started with some actual behavior or real scenario. Why didn’t security shut this guy up earlier?
I was at the Kong’s preseason game and a dude was heckling Shumpert (yup his own player) he said something ugly and everyone gave him a funny look and security said something to him... he didn’t show back up at half time.
The fact that Dm said he has heard it a couple times validates that some of the stereotype is likely true. Fans should police this stuff a bit better... see something say something mmmmkay.
