What's new

The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

So, you're saying Mitch McConnell is not an embarrassment? He's certainly ready for the show, and no legislator is more of a disaster for this country than him. For God's sake we have a guy who is our rep in SLC who claims to be a best-selling author and is also an embarrassment. Has he made any statements about the shootings yet? No, just checked his website.

Didn't say that at all. As a matter of fact, I have previously stated on this very site that I think both McConnell and Paul Ryan are/have been failures in their respective roles.

What I did say was careful what you wish for cause you could end up with a sideshow like the supposed Squad.

Food for thought, stop putting words in other people's mouths just for the sake of your argument.

You're just trolling with this, right?

I have never understood the term "trolling". Why is it a " bad" thing...... We have had some good fishermen in here like Dave, but I'm not an fisherman.

pushing hooks through worms is not a high credit to the effort to encourage brain functions.

I'm in here for the social life.

OK, so I'll assume you have a point of view, something like making out everything to be some kind of racist statement. My first wife was fluent in Visayan and Tagalog..... and English. When we studied Russian together, she was the star. I couldn't get the accent and such. But she still wanted me to write her written assignments because I learned Cyrillic pretty good, and could read it. Some people have ears to hear and are good mimics. I just don't do that well.

I did study Visayan and Tagalog..... got myself dictionaries and such. When they borrowed words, the words they borrowed were Spanish first, then later English. I know of the existence of deep vocabularies and usages that don't turn up in the cheap dictionaries. I know, for example, that the Spanish scholars who were the most diligent in compiling local information and usages, did nevertheless resort to using Greek terms to form Visayan and Tagalog usages and meanings.....but that there were some things they just missed about the local languages.

except for technical terms, or religious terms in some cases...... I don't believe there is any innate differences in the human mind that can be attributed to genetics, in any kind of comparative discussion aimed at seriously maintaining any kind of imagined "superiority". It's culture, maybe. Education, mostly. However, I think it is a human right to imagine any kind of "superiority" we please, even the very worst sort of claims, such as being "progressive". It's hard enough for us to construct laws or customs that can in any sense be termed a "level playing field" from a top-down management perspective.

Perhaps.... one day.... you will understand the uselessness of some your own grand imagined superioriites. We will always do evil, we will always seek simple imagined glories, in every possible aspect. We will always have hate, and there will always be government authorities who will oppress their little people.

The most realistic hope we can have, in all this evil, is love. Unreasoned love. Ungoverned love. Making a personal choice to love. Making a personal choice to love people. I have seen where materialism cannot sustain the kind of love religion can. A materialist is denying the human spirit outright. Believing in.... I could say knowing..... God, is a great gift. Knowing I was loved by God..... some would feel compelled to term it "believing" or "imagining".... from a child made a simpleton of me, a dunce.... a stooge. I thought, of course, if God loved me He would love everybody. And while He does, He is no fool. He knows what we are. And He knows we can only work from what we are, no matter how we imagine things should be. So he lets us. Maybe helps us if we will let Him. But back to the whole idea of British supremacy over the world.... The Brits are the ones who have run the show in terms of top down management, though they have always had a little sense about it. It's the Oxford/Cambridge intellectual set who are still the worst sort of "racists", although they have had the sense to pretend to be what they are not, and they have duped you into being their little foot soldier in St. Louis, managing the herd for them, so to speak.... But to the specifics of linguistic superiorities.....

I don't think we could do better in terms like "Amok" or "Bundok". We are enriched by such words which surpass our own weaker expressions. So we borrow them, smartly.

But then, what do I know, really. A few years, here and there. Nothing like the kind of understanding a real scholar will attain who persists in the subject across a lifetime....

St. Jerome is one example of a "real scholar"....... William Tyndale was nothing like him. St. Jerome just knew that if he wanted to understand the ancient times and language, and do a good translation of the texts, he just had to live there and absorb everything that could be absorbed from the remnants of the Bible people.

But at least Tyndale had the sense, and the respect for Jerome, to keep the sense Jerome had and make it English.

OK, so I'll assume you have a point of view, something like making out everything to be some kind of racist statement.

Actually, I misread what you had written. While there do seem to be books available in Tagalog and the Visayan languages, I admit I don't know enough about them to judge if they are "substantial works of literature". My apologies for the misread.

hah hah.

Trump efficiently moves through staff selections when he sees things aren't working out, but he never would consider anyone with this kind of mentality. If you can't think and effectively communicate your own stuff, he doesn't want you around. He selects advisors who aren't "yes men".

translation: he hires unqualified and incompetent people, learns about this after they repeatedly screw the pooch, fires them, and replaces them with sycophants who are less qualified but who sing his praises, so he keeps them around until they begin to embarrass him. Rinse repeat. Country down the drain.

There was a time in the old days when people were vetted before being hired. The good old days.

Uh oh

First Coates now Gordon. Looks like there’s a purge going in in the Dept or Ntl Security.

Good thing that dept isn’t important or anything...

To be fair though, his pool of available candidates has grown dramatically since he was actually elected. The people he had around him during the early part of his campaign were severely unqualified.

He is destroying careers left and right. I guess that even fox news won’t hire sarah sanders. A few have come out relatively unscathed, such as kudlow and Nikki Haley. Haley left before the poop hit the fan, she played her hand brilliantly. She’ll be the 2024 republican candidate for prez, I have little doubt. But the way former respected and dignified leaders have licked Donnie’s boots, man they are poisoned forever.

I’m not sure this is correct. People were not jumping on the trump train when they thought he was a losing candidate. When he won election, he had the best chance to get the best people. But after 2 years of a amoral leadership and bigotry, he has slim pickings now

Actually, I think, you seem to be drinking some kind of CNN cool-aid in discussing Trump's team. It's just the simple reality that there are actually no qualified people available in politics. Everyone you believe are qualified individuals with some kind of respectability are just old has-been swampwhores who used to get a good press because they were conforming well to the culture of the Swamp. Trump is asking people to be different now, and nobody can really change their spots. Almost everyone who takes a position with Trump gets sacked by CNN, personally attacked, and most just roll over for the Establishment.

There are no human beings who can actually function in any kind of Trump assignment with the negative press we have now. When Trump sees his people gunned down, figuratively "dead on the job", having been mowed down by a barrage of negative press articles, he just has to move them off the battlefield.

Of course, I know nothing about Washington DC. I hardly know how my cows are doing on the North Forty. There was a nice thunderstorm today, and I cleared a firebreak in the dry grass on the south side of my house. While I was out there, lightning struck within forty yards of me, but the dry grass had already been rained on, so it didn't catch fire today. A few days ago, I met with the Nevada State Fire Marshall. He asked about the fire in the next valley, and told me one of his men was life flighted that day. Explosive fire weather. A lot of grass is now so dry a fire can advance practically at a hundred miles an hour. You can't outrun that. And the wind can change direction instantly.

The anti-Trump insanity is a national wildfire. Nobody who will work for Trump is gonna survive the fire. So, actually, our press is burning the national house down rather than let an outsider run the government for a few years.

There is a CNN flavored cool-aid? Yum yum yum, slurp slurp slurp, gulp gulp. Oh it tastes sooooo good. Oh, give me more, I want more more more. So sweet, so delicious.

Who actually gives half a **** about CNN?

Do you Trumpsters imagine the same sort of superpowers you think Hillary has are also bestowed upon CNN?

How many villains do you need? How many shadowy figures are required before your narrative starts making sense? How many supernatural entities are required before your theories become possible?

I mean, you could just like accept reality as a thing. But you do you.

well, reality is whatever it is.

The news is something else. I mean, actually, the news is lies, because humans have interests and will screw with the narrative however they think they need to.

This is your usual brain fart so far as dealing with your narrative goes. You imagine vast hordes of humans have to work out some kind of unified plan to create a false narrative. No plan is required. We are social creatures with a predilection for conformity. It naturally requires some reason to decide to not conform.

I was inclined to be a contrarian before there was a Trump, so my views really have nothing to do with being a "Trumpster". Most people who voted for Trump were just sick of what their government was to begin with. If Trump sails off into private life for any reason, or if some imbecile gets his big shot off successfully, there will still be DeepStaters enough to keep us sick of the way things are in Washington DC. Until govermnet officials develop some respect for the governed, there will be plenty of reasons not to conform. Probably never will happen.

Let's just stop with your first sentence.

Reality is whatever it is.

Reality is real. Reality exists.

Live there.

I don’t watch CNN. Any other brilliant ideas? Go tend to your cattle.

OK, I think you've said as much before. Not sure if you understand figurative expressions. CNN is just an "archetype" for stupid news. Pretty sure stupid news is practically the whole atmosphere of our time. Cows actually don't need to be bothered much. I mean, if they have water and grass enough. They probably consider me something like a fake cowboy.

really, you just need to stop bothering yourself with trying to manage others. Well, I don't care much what you do or say. I realize it's useless to argue with you. From the time you objected to my standard take on Machiavelli, which of course was never any more rooted in actual reading of The Prince than just a borrowed negative archetype for a scheming manipulator in political endeavors, I have realized you have a huge investment in your political bearings and just resent the hell outta anyone who won't roll over for your abuse.
