Id take a baseball bat or golf club personallyA knife is likely a better choice for home self defence if you know how to use it in my humble opinion.

I have been hit in the head/face by both (got stitches both times.)I’d take the baseball bat. I think a golf club is too likely to break after one good solid whack to a skull. There’s a little more resistance there than a golf ball offers.

Honest question: is Salt Lake City or Utah in general considered more dangerous compared to Tallinn, Riga, Helsinki, Warsaw or Prague that you need to have at least baseball bat in your house or apartment for protection just in case? Is the chance of having a burglary or direct attack in night that high? In our case, i think our doors are strong enough to keep away those who expect to stole tablets, laptops or cash (although in Baltic countries it is not practically needed to have much cash at home - you can pay everywhere with a card) and for "Ocean 11" level of thieves we do not have anything valuable. I guess the last robbery in our apartment building from some apartment (we have 60 apartments) was in the last century before the complex had metal doors. Of course, never say never (last burglary from my house was in 2009 - for some reason the thief stole old chainsaw and some other minor stuff during the night from our quite poor looking utility building which did not had hardened doors etc.I have been hit in the head/face by both (got stitches both times.)
The bat knocked me off my feet and left me unconscious. I have a wicked scar on my eyebrow from that one.
The golf club split my eyelid open (I could see through my eyelid when I closed my eye) and split my scalp open. Didn't knock me out though and didn't even knock me off my feet and I was pretty much fine other than blood spraying everywhere. (Still have the scar on my eyelid)
Good choice imo. The baseball bat is more effective.
I have a shortened version of a baseball bat hanging from the coat rack by my front door. Just in case. Pretty damn brutal weapon. I would take it over a knife.

Salt lake City is quite safe imo. I don't ever feel like I'm in danger. And I live in one of the worse parts of SLC. I walk around in the wee hours of the morning with no fear.Honest question: is Salt Lake City or Utah in general considered more dangerous compared to Tallinn, Riga, Helsinki, Warsaw or Prague that you need to have at least baseball bat in your house or apartment for protection just in case? I have the bat as a just in case and would bet that I never use it.

Cause it's in america. Lots of safe places in America. America is a great and prosperous country. Why do you think it is that Utah is such a safe place to live?
Probably because the LDS church brings tons and tons of immigrants here and immigrants commit less crimes than native born citizens. Why do you think it is that Utah is such a safe place to live?

Fun fact if you have a baseball bat in the boot (trunk) of your car, without having say a glove and other baseball **** in there you can get charged with a weapons offence here.
Then why in the hell would anyone not have a glove too?
When I was in high school, I had two rolls of quarters in my glove box at all times. I was an idiot.

Probably because gloves arent readily available in Australia, I would guess. Then why in the hell would anyone not have a glove too?
