All this Dante talk from the Q&A had me thinking about the all-time tease team... these players aren't necessarily bad players... just you always think they have so much more potential than they actually do... so I submit The All-Time Jazz Tease Team...

Dante - Might be the captain of this team.

CJ Miles - Serviceable player... every now and again he'd have a good shooting game or a highlight and you'd think "eff yeah he's only 19 (or 21, 22, etc.). I swear he was 21 for like 8 years and then he became 35 overnight.

AB - Sorry @fishonjazz … injuries derailed this but he also ran so hot and cold when he was healthy.

AK - Great player, but I always thought there was more... or if he gained some muscle... or if his jumper was more consistent.

Greg Ostertag - The Shaq killer... great rim protector... goofy as hell... serviceable player most of the time... every now and again he'd actually catch the ball and dunk it consistently for a night and I'd think maybe he isn't a complete spaz... then he'd go back to goofy old tag. In another world does he get in better shape? take things more seriously?

Who ya got? Who has sparkled only to fade? Who has disappointed you most? Let's gather round the Festivus pole and discuss.

Oh ****... I forgot Fes... he goes in over Ostertag… I was convinced he'd be a monster someday.

I thought Morris Almond could be really good for a hot minute.

Jeremy Evans might qualify a bit too. Crazy athleticism and highlight plays but just not enough actual basketball skill.

Mo, Evans, and Hood off the bench... good additions. Hood is kind of perfect for this... still a good player but just kept waiting for that next leap.

How on Earth is Dante on any list, yet being the captain?

What about his rookie season teased you?

Mine:

Miles
Hood
AK
Favors
Kanter

Anyone remember Jamie Watson? He was back in the Stockton days he was a 6-7 pg that listened to his idiot agent who told Jamie he’d be a star and should hold out for big bucks and was never heard from again. I thought he had a chance to be pretty good.

No sorry necessary. AB belongs on this team big time

What’s that guys name that was drafted by the jazz the same year Humphries was? Played for Nevada. I remember him saying he would be ROTY that year. Later on he was arrested and sent to prison, for what, I forget. Is he still there?
Kirk Snyder. Apparently he served two years and then was signed by a Canadian basketball team, the Halifax Rainmen.

He was waived after three games.

Id add Rodney Hood that list. He had some great moments in big games carrying the jazz offense at times. But just couldnt consistently deliver.

Rodney looked like an all star some nights and other nights he looked like he belonged in the G league. I don't think I've ever had a Jazz player frustrate me the way he did, just so wildly inconsistent.

I thought Lopez would be good (after I got over hating the pick).

I thought Hoffa could have played solid minutes.

I thought Collins was going to be better than he was.

I thought AK was going to continue his trajectory.

I thought Pavlovic was going to be a 20+ ppg guy.

I thought Phil Johnson was going to be the next coach.

I thought Kosta and Fes could be our twin bigs.

Trey Burke was the guy I wanted most that draft.

So was Enes Kanter.

But then so we’re Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

You think too much. Lol

Every thing about Dante is a tease... he was supposed to be this offensive dynamo... he’s had a couple okayish stints but then immediately gets hurt... he’s the worst kind of tease the looooooong tease... had he just been healthy enough to flame out we could have moved on.

Raul Lopez for sure I thought he would have become a terrific player
Ostertag at his best he could do some terrific things. Lazy fat ****

That last part is true. Also one of the dumbest possible ways of looking at the whole thing. He has actually benefitted from his injuries. It’s almost impressive.
