Future Jazz Starting 5??????

Coaches are looking to put their best 5 players on the court together if possible, and they are looking for advantages.

I am looking at the possiblity of the Jazz adding a very good small forward in the loaded draft next year.

Looking to the future (2 or 3 years) I am looking at a way to get all of our young lottery pick level players on the floor together as starters, if possible. Thus my thinking is this:

Alex Burks - point guard - He is 6 ft. 6 in. tall, where the average point guard height in the NBA is 6 ft. 3 in. tall. Advantage in height to the Jazz most nights. I would give him minutes next year at point guard to see if this is even feasible. Coach Corbin has talked about going with a 2 guard offense instead of running everything thru a true point guard, so him as a starter in any case is a definite possiblity.

Gordon Hayward - shooting guard - He is 6 ft. 8 in. tall, where the average shooting guard in the NBA is 6 ft. 5in. Advantage in height to the Jazz most nights.

Next years small forward possibly would be Terrence Jones from Kentucky - He is 6 ft. 8 in. tall, where the average small foward in the NBA is 6 ft. 7 in. tall. Not much of an advantage in height to the Jazz most nights, but he is considered a smaller Odom in ability.

Enes Kantor - power forward - He is 6 ft. 11 in. tall, where the average power forward is 6 ft. 8 in. tall. Advantage most nights to the Jazz.

Derrick Favors - Center - He is 6 ft. 10 in. tall, and that is the average height for centers in the NBA. His great leaping ability gives the Jazz an advantage against most centers.

This would give the Jazz a size advantage at most positions, put our young lottery picks
together as starters and give us one heck of a future team looking ahead. Sure many things can happen to reshape the team of 2 or 3 years from now, but I would exited as heck with the above team together with a strong bench.

If height was the sole contributor to championships you would be on to something here, but.........

Don't go away mad just go away. With 5 lottery picks it goes without saying there should be some talent there. Are we going to cross swords now on every post each other makes?

Must admit. I immediately noticed Burks at PG and Kanter misspelled .. didn't read anymore.

Should have

I stated Corbin is looking at going with 2 guards next year instead of a true point guard, that would make sense from a coaching stand point as both guards can penetrate and pass. You would have also seen where I mentioned your Kentucky. Just because you attended Kentucky does not give you the right to be rude. Ever made a spelling error big guy?

My bad. No offense, seriously. Just noticed what I noticed and posted ... and that was blunt .. not intended to be rude.

The Champions this year didn't start their best 5. Neither did the Thunder.

Cross swords lol

Well at least you got something right this week. I saw you admit to being ignorant on another thread. And back when I played and coached height was important, and I never said it was the sole criteria. Your good at trying to put words in other people's mouths. Height is helpful in rebounding, passing over the top of the defense, blocking shots, etc. Give me a team with similiar ability as yours with a height advantage and we will win most games.

Where did you play? When? Where did you coach? When?

Just have to take my word for it, or feel free to ask me basketball questions. I would never give personal information on a forum. Not with guys like Tyrone looking to give me a hard time. It was way back when. I am part of the retiree crowd now.

So a 11-13 year old church league then. Cool.

No way Burks is a starting point guard in the NBA. Our future starting PG probably is not with the team yet.

1 more point it is Alec like Alec Baldwin not Alex I made the same mistake. If you want size trade millsap to atl for Josh smith at 6-9 he is your starting sf

Great point. That's why jazzrule doesn't have CJ on his list. The Jazz' best player is coming off the bench to provide veteran leadership ;-)

Seriously, you are right. A lot of teams will have 4 starters and a short minutes guy to start the game. Then their 6th man comes off the bench midway through the 1st period and gets the same amount of PT as the other 4 starters.

I don't see Burks as an NBA PG, at least not a starting one. Yes, we've heard he's a good ball handler, but the same has been said of Brewer, CJ and Hayward. None of those 3 can match up against the better PG's in the league. Burks might be a starter, or he may be the 6th man we've been looking for - a guy who can provide offensive spark off the bench.

I also wouldn't count on getting a starter in the draft next season. Jazz could very well make the playoffs and lose their pick to Minnesota. And the GS pick is protected. Either way, I think our pick(s) will be late lottery, probably out of the Top 10. Who knows, though, KOC looks like he's found gold in both Hayward and Burks, although it's still a bit too early to declare success with either of those two picks. Let's see if Gordon can maintain his late season stats over the course of a full year and if Burks is as good as advertised.

LOL yeah right. Funny! This is exactly why I would not share anything with you bozos Hobo, but I will tell you this much I coached for 8 years and I got paid for it with money. You ever been paid to coach?

Your posts really aren't written like you would think a 'near retiree' would write. That's okay, I guess, you just sound to be around late teens. No need to respond, just an observation.
