Coaches are looking to put their best 5 players on the court together if possible, and they are looking for advantages.
I am looking at the possiblity of the Jazz adding a very good small forward in the loaded draft next year.
Looking to the future (2 or 3 years) I am looking at a way to get all of our young lottery pick level players on the floor together as starters, if possible. Thus my thinking is this:
Alex Burks - point guard - He is 6 ft. 6 in. tall, where the average point guard height in the NBA is 6 ft. 3 in. tall. Advantage in height to the Jazz most nights. I would give him minutes next year at point guard to see if this is even feasible. Coach Corbin has talked about going with a 2 guard offense instead of running everything thru a true point guard, so him as a starter in any case is a definite possiblity.
Gordon Hayward - shooting guard - He is 6 ft. 8 in. tall, where the average shooting guard in the NBA is 6 ft. 5in. Advantage in height to the Jazz most nights.
Next years small forward possibly would be Terrence Jones from Kentucky - He is 6 ft. 8 in. tall, where the average small foward in the NBA is 6 ft. 7 in. tall. Not much of an advantage in height to the Jazz most nights, but he is considered a smaller Odom in ability.
Enes Kantor - power forward - He is 6 ft. 11 in. tall, where the average power forward is 6 ft. 8 in. tall. Advantage most nights to the Jazz.
Derrick Favors - Center - He is 6 ft. 10 in. tall, and that is the average height for centers in the NBA. His great leaping ability gives the Jazz an advantage against most centers.
This would give the Jazz a size advantage at most positions, put our young lottery picks
together as starters and give us one heck of a future team looking ahead. Sure many things can happen to reshape the team of 2 or 3 years from now, but I would exited as heck with the above team together with a strong bench.
