Whoever put the groups together did a very poor job. The first two groups are so much better than the last two. Russia looking pretty good in their brackets.

from Loul Deng's twitter(after all the tweets he got from turkish basketball fans):

"The love from turkey has been crayz"

"The love for Bball and national pride in Turkey is Unbelievable and admirable. This is something special. Thank you all for your kind tweets"

:) :)

You owned on the last vid so ending this with a little screech.

asik looks longer than gasol... i think asik is listed as 7-0, but he looks closer to 7-1 (or 7-2). nice to have an athletic, quick player who is a great defender. i checket his stats from chicago, this guy is a rebounding and shot blocking stud. horrible free throw shooter though, does not have very good hands or shooting touch, but is solid on the pick n' roll and he dunks everything. nice alley-oop option as well. he could start on many nba teams and as cyrone said, i do believe that he is the best backup center and arguably one of the best defensive bigs. i just checked some videos from youtube, too. man, this guy is a beast, one of the longest and most athletic centers in the nba with ridiculous length (standing reach and wingspan). if he can improve his free throw shooting (and maybe a post move and his conditioning), this guy has all-star potential. i do think that he can average 10 ppg 10 rpg and 2 bpg in the nba...

many big men are steals from the secound round, like marc gasol or omer asik. this guys should be at least a top ten pick...

not 10 ppg but he may score close if he gets playing time. He does best what he does, his job is defending, shoot altering, blocking and being a nightmare to the opponent team. If he was in miami, miami wouldnt be so unbeatable

I agree about steals, some international players, not at Pau gasol, nowitzki or kanter level like the most popular ones but some of them are slightly less famous may be grabbed every year in second round. Rarely comes good american players in second round but it is a higher possiblity for international second round players to end up being better than expected. Thats why we should try our chance with internationals in second round picks. (Though i dont think Ante Tomic is a good player for nba level)

so far Kanters resume looks like that: dominant vs weak teams, struggling vs strong teams. France, Germany and Serbia awaits.

Or he doesnt get as many playing time to strong teams as did to weaker teams.

I think Kanter will be key in France game, because we cant run the court with France, we should focus on half court game with lots of post up and pick n roll plays. There are 3 very important games ahead of Turkey, France Germany and Serbia. If we win the first game, im pretty sure we can advance to quarter final. But if we lose, then its tough because Spain will probably grab at least 2 wins, and if we have the same win with Lithuania they have advantage against us.

So far Germany and Lithuania seems weaker than the others but there will be a great competition among these 6 teams comparing to the other 6 freaking weak teams. Finland, Georgia, Macedonia, Greece, Russia, Slovenia. I cant believe 4 of these 6 will make the quarter. Probably none will make the semis.

I hope that ESPN3 carries the next games because I dont know about you guys but I think the announcer Liam Canny is the best basketball play by play man I have ever heard. He is AWSOME!! ESPN needs to put him on their NBA telecasts.what he say MUCINEX or something when turkey did something good?

He does a really job too considering he is by himself. Pretty hard to talk to yourself for 40+ minutes and not get boring.

I second the notion. I like his quip, "it's velvet!". All good commentators should have their own little sayings/style that identify them; that's what makes them recognizable above the rest. For example, it's not difficult to know who said this, "with a gentle push and a mild ark the cowhide globe hits home" or "hippity-hoppin' down the lane" and the patented "you gotta love it..."

I think Greece, Russia and Slovenia are no weaker then any team from other group but Spain. Those three are legit contenders and any of them can win whole thing. Macedonia so far is very surprising, they beat Croatia and Greece so they must know how to play basketball. Finland and Georgia is out for sure, and they are not at the same level as the remaining teams.
