TURKEY-FRANCE : FIirst game of the 2nd round

95-81 with 3 min left LT is up, so this will make life for Turkey easier as long as they beat Serbia they should be in.

Final score 100-90 LT wins. JV finishes game with 18pts, 8-9FG, 2-3FT, 5reb, 1stl, 2blk, 1ast in 19 min of playing time.

but i dont think LT deserves to be ahead of turkey in this tourney, they are a very limited team.

When team scores 100pts vs Serbia in 40min game and 5 players score more then 13pts limited is not the right word to describe that team. LT is one of the favorites to win it all.

So Kanter sucked today?

Not enough playing time to really respond. He seemed to play much better D against Noah than I thought he would at this juncture. Also hit a real nice contested 12 (or so) footer, with seemingly much improved confidence. Just not much time.

enes played very solid on both ends of the floor, but he did only get like 8 minutes or so... but again, the turkish coach and the turkish guards sucked. they are so horrible, taking threes after threes, i will never watch this turkish team again... disgusting!

God damn Jonas is a beast. That length is insane. He moves incredibly fluid (other than looking extremely awkward running the open floor (but even then, he isnt that slow, he just looks funny as hell)) for being so long. May be my favorite Non-Jazz player once he comes over. Too bad he plays for the Raptors. Hopefully he gets traded to the Western Conference eventually and he and Enes can develop some sort of rivalry, similar to the old Dwill vs CP3.

Jonas looks pretty good. He reminds me of a slightly quicker Tyson Chandler with less lift. He has great energy. He didn't really display a lot of skill in his offense besides good timing on the pick-and-roll and good coordination, but he's only 19. He seems to have more confidence than Enes at this point, which is to be expected with his playing experience so far and the home crowd. It'll be interesting to see how he does away from Lithuania in the NBA, but he looks like he has some good stuff going for him.

I could see Jonas developing into a more fiery, defensively capable Pau Gasol.

I said before draft that he will turn into longer Noah with better offense, so Noah/Gasol hybrid seems pretty fair especially if he develops more post moves and back to the basket game.

Saw interview with Nowitzki and he said that their only chance to stay in tourney is to beat Turkey on Friday, so next game is going to be crazy... both teams need wins, already feels like playoffs:).

Cleveland is going to rue the day they picked Thompson instead of JV. Having to wait one year should not have been a problem.

Holy Hell .. and you gave me **** about Kanter being a good player. I never said anything remotely close to that ^^^^ right there. Good stuff.

Maybe you can find yourself an "I *heart* Jonas" snapback.

He stuffs Marc Gasol with ridiculous ease, then the next play he nails a jump shot just within the 3 point line. The jumper looked very smooth, was relatively quick, high release, and he shot it with confidence (looked just as good, if not better, than any jumper Kanter has shot so far). Call me crazy, but his jump shot form looks a lot like Pau Gasol's. He obviously has some range (prior to people thinking he might not, questioning how he would have been able to play alongside Favors).

That highlights I'm talking about start 49 seconds in.

He also reacted to hitting that jump shot like a little schoolgirl, fist pumping, not because it was late in the game for some huge game-winning shot mind you, but because it was one basket that closed the huge gap his team was in from 22-8 to 22-10. That speaks volumes to me. He's not use to hitting that shot.
