Tough Day To Be In Law Enforcement

Ah yes. This is definitely going to help things. Here comes fascist Trump, looking to pour gasoline onto the fire. Who’s looking to start civil unrest again?

It’s not 1968. We have a few minor disturbances over police brutality. But it’s hardly 1968. Trump is merely trying to make this worse because this is the only card he can play. He’s trying to play the “American Carnage” theme and maximize the scared white vote for an electoral college victory.

No, just a **** hole. Don't play stupid semantic games with me man.

Have the people you’re arguing with EVER taken the BLM or ANTIFA side? It’s kinda funny how some posters always show up in this forum to defend white supremacists. Never do they show up to defend BLM and criticize the Neo nazis, confederates, 3 percenters, Boogaloos, Proud Boys, or Bundys. Just an observation over the past few years. Draw your own conclusions

Portland averaged about 5,000 arrests per month in 2019.

The protests have been peaceful on almost all nights, and relatively contained.

I mean that logic is pretty easy to use in defense of cops. 99.999999999% of the time they don't kill the unarmed minority. So it's all good I guess.

Just using this link for the pics that show the Kenosha shooting.

Basically, the kid was being chased by a dude and he **** the guy in the head. Then the kid runs away. People start yelling hey, he shot someone and to get him. A group of people run after the kid and he gets knocked down - this is where the pictures start. The kid gets a bunch of shots off. Hits the guy who hit him over the head with a skateboard in the chest (he dies) and then shoots the other guy with a pistol in his hand.

Kid is charged with first degree murder.

I don't get why people go to these things and think life is like a video game. I hate guns. The kid was looking for trouble. The people shot were looking for trouble. I can't believe the stupidity and yet I still feel incredibly bad for them.

Anyway the kid beats the first degree conviction?

I don't understand why he's defending Portland from looking bad and acting like it's just another normal US city.

If it's a fair jury he won't get convicted. He was getting beaten prior to shooting. I don't really feel bad for him as he put himself in a stupid situation on his own accord. Don't feel bad for the people that got shot if they were the ones attacking him either. Idiot vs idiot.

I think it's worth noting that the rioting and such in Portland has been pretty much confined to just a few city blocks. The city itself is hardly a warzone.
This. The media makes it look worse than it is. My cousin lives there and works in downtown Portland and she says her life is never affected by the protests

I do believe your cousin and her experience. But seeing the amount of businesses that were very clearly closed and/or destroyed I think there are more than a fair amount of people that are telling a much different story.

I have a co-worker who lives in Portland I talk to a few times a week that would disagree with you.
Where exactly does your cousin live? Tigard?

Watch some YouTube videos on it. Read articles about businesses leaving town. The city is a gawd damn mess, man. 100%

I will say in regards to these BLM protests, which I support in general. The main instigators, the dumbasses, those being dangerous, those destroying property, for the most part seem to be white. It's odd. They don't have to face the fallout of their actions. Blacks get blamed for their dumbassery. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they think they are trying to do something positive. But they are only making things much much worse.

Jacob Blakes parents seem very reasonable considering everything that is going on. These dumb *** white kids are ****ing things up for everyone. On both sides.

Then I see Kendrick Perkins on ESPN saying there was black man lynched less than a mile from his house recently, which I'd bet my life is not true, and I realize that both sides are being beyond irrational. There are no reasonable voices. Each side is trying to 1 up each other in stupidity. It's sad really.
