2020 Presidential election

Are the Dems more stupid than the impossibly stupid Trump? Because they are doing everything in their power to hand him the election again. The levels of idiocy going on right now are insane.

**** I hope we make the right choice.

Is this surprising to anyone? We elected a man who has proven over decades to be a racist and narcissistic blowhard. He claimed that the previous president was from Africa because he was black. Trump began his campaign calling Mexicans drug dealing rapists and murderers. He’s supported by some of the ugliest media propaganda outlets we’ve ever seen, people like Steve Bannon, Bill Oreilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Roger Ailes.

Has anyone read a history book before? When doesn't a racist corrupt demagogue supported by a massive propaganda apparatus not end in disaster?

I’m genuinely curious what people actually expected?

I too hope we make the right choice. But the right choice really shouldn’t be hard to anyone decently informed and/or lacking character.

Im getting tired of low information takes like these.

1. When will Donald condemn russian bounties?
2. When will Donald condemn right wing terrorism and vigilantes killing people?
3. When will Donald condemn Russia for today’s attacks on our troops?
4. When will Donald condemn sleazy attacks like this one? Isn’t using twitter to retweet fake news on the CDC and 6 percent of deaths while having your media guy put out garbage repulsive and unbecoming of an incumbent president? For someone who bitches nonstop about fake news, Donald sure puts a lot of fake news out there.

It’s pretty telling that you’re ignoring what Biden has said and done to condemn attacks while letting trump off the hook. You’re either poorly informed (not a serious person) or ignoring the facts and trying to get Trump elected (a ****** person). It’s amazing how many of you are holding Biden to impossible standards without holding Donald to any.

The last few days of people blaming the violence in the streets on Democrats, and not right wing terrorists and Trump’s encouragement of violence is infuriating. While demanding Biden do the things you say even though he’s already done all those things.

Lol, of course you go right into attacking Trump. Easy target, I get it. Listen, I know Trump is a moron dumb *** **** head loser. BUTTTTTTT, he's going to win in November if the Dems keep alienating everyone who isn't on the extreme far left in identity politics. Kind of cutting off their nose to spite their faces thing going on on the left. I want so bad to vote for Biden, but him and Kamala are so sleazy, so disgusting, so full of ****, that I can't put them ahead of Donald. Just different types of ****** sleaze. And no, I will never in a million years vote for Trump, so if it comes down to it I'll go 3rd party or no vote. "But any vote not for Biden is a vote for Trump" - Thriller .... Maybe so but the dems have given me 0 hope they will be any better than the current admin. They are all clowns. Every single one of them.

Maybe take 2 seconds to step outside of yourself and look at the opposing argument. Try and see what the voters the left will need to get to win are thinking. It sure as hell doesn't seem like senile Biden or dumb *** Kamala are doing that.

This is completely correct - I'm more than alarmed that over the last couple of months the definition of a "Karen" has gone from a white woman with a ridiculous sense of entitlement to basically every white women over 40 who lives in the suburbs and isn't running around screaming her head off like these ultra woke *****eads. This is the group that cost Hillary in 2016 and should really be a slam dunk for the Dems this time around.

If Biden gets elected, he'll do some good stuff, he'll do some bad stuff; but for the most part it will be the same old mediocre ********* coming out of the White House.

Donald Trump is a direct threat to our democracy on multiple levels - I say this with zero hyperbole. He has to not only lose, he has to get crushed. Otherwise, while Trump may be discarded, the "brand" will still be viable. And next time it won't be a insecure buffoon like him - it will be someone much smarter and more polished.

You guys are blind fools. New York has had 30k+ deaths and Florida has 10k with a larger population. Save your BS for someone else.

I think the outkick.com link in the tweet you posted may be making the same mistake in overall interpretation that Trump made in a now removed tweet that he retweeted Sunday:

“The CDC's latest regular update to a public statistics page on the pandemic -- there was nothing especially "quiet" about it -- said that for 6% of the deaths included in its statistics, "Covid-19 was the only cause mentioned" on the deceased person's death certificate.

That is not at all the same thing as saying only 6% of reported Covid-19 deaths "actually died" from Covid-19. It simply means that the other 94% were listed as having at least one additional factor contributing to their death.

For example, the other 94% includes people whose death certificate listed both Covid-19 and obesity, both Covid-19 and diabetes, or both Covid-19 and heart disease -- among other conditions.

People can live with obesity, diabetes or heart disease for years but then get infected with Covid-19 and die quickly. The fact that they also had an underlying condition does not mean that Covid-19 was not a major reason, or the major reason, they died when they did.

There is no secret about the fact that pre-existing health conditions can cause people to experience more severe problems from Covid-19. The CDC has long said that older adults and people with other underlying health conditions are more likely to become seriously ill.

This often gets repeated as fact, but isn't really the case. Moderates/independants breaking for Trump had a much larger impact on the race. Hillary kind of dug her own grave with how she campaigned and couldn't deliver working class white voters in the swing states she needed to win.

And it seems like this is exactly what is happening again.

So are you saying those people with pre-existing conditions deserve to die anyway, so Republicans are right to want to reopen the country before we have a handle on the virus?

Well, at the least, more Republicans than not find the death toll acceptable. Not sure what the cutoff number would be, above which Trump supporters would find the toll unacceptable.

Oregon seems to be the most impressive state in terms of having fewer than I'd expect for covid deaths (some states more urban, hit earlier, travel hot spots, pre-existing health conditions more common, etc).
Huh. Maybe weed kills it.

What I meant was this is a swing-able group this time around. And the current climate is putting that in jeopardy.

You're right about the working class folks - but I've written off MOST of the moderate/right leaning working class whites. . To this day, the number of working class white women that voted for Trump over Hillary in 16 in the swing states still shocks the hell out of me.

Could be, I'm not big on either Kamala or Joe, but if people aren't willing to recognize the unique awfulness of Trump after the last few years I'm not sure anything Biden or "the far left" does will matter anyway.

I think a lot of people, including myself, realize what a buffoon Trump and his admin are and are looking for the left to do ANYTHING reasonable or logical and aren't seeing it. So we feel like, what's the point? Just another slimeball president appointing corrupt people everywhere. No one looking out for the greater good, just trying to keep money in their billionaire benefactors pockets. I have absolutely 0 confidence Joe Biden will fix anything or make anything better. 0. None. I mean his main message of "Hey, I'm not Trump" isn't cutting it for a lot of people. The people he needs to vote for him. I really really really want to be done with Trump. I'm just not convinced Biden isn't just a slicker less abrasive Trump. I will not vote for Trump but Biden has done nothing to make me want to vote for him.

As Orac mentioned, that 6% means all of those death certificates were filled out incorrectly. Covid should never be listed as the direct cause of death.

Yeah, this is kind of what I'm talking about. If you see Trump as just a buffoon and not an aspiring autocrat with the backing of a major political party then you're not really recognizing why it's so important for him to be defeated.

I'm certain he is an aspiring autocrat. I'm certain that 95% of those that run on both sides are aspiring autocrats. He's too stupid to succeed, but sure he'll try. Just like Obama tried, and Bush tried, and so on and so on before them also tried. Maybe I'm too jaded, but everyone involved in all of this are scumbags. You have to be to get to the highest ranks of politics.
