I am in the same boat now. Missing out on about 15k per year, doing a job I am not being paid for. It sucks. Glad you got your due, brother.

Yeah it was one of my pet peeves, as a group we are still 10 to 15k underpaid, In my first year as a casual i made 78k thirteen years later I made 80k. Sure i have 11 months of paid leave up my sleeve but a cop on the same money as me when i started now makes btw 100-110k. Big difference in purchasing power. They are restructuring our department, I'm hoping to move onto a higher award that should lift our wages across the board.

I think they’ll run with “he said he did not want to cause panic”, the kind that ensues when a president comes on TV, to address the nation, to tell the nation the nature of the threat, to rally the nation to confront the threat as one people. You know, the panic that’s bound to happen if he had done that.

Anyone who thinks he legitimately cared about our lives needs to just look a few hours ago on twitter when he was purposely trying to scare us about our cities being destroyed by a handful of college kids. And that taxes will go up if Biden is elected. Or think back to the Republican Convention when he tried to scare us about blacks moving in and bringing high density housing to our suburbs. Or think back to March when he was demanding that cities be “liberated.” Or think back to the 2018 midterms when the caravan was coming to being Spanish speaking rapists and Ms13!

The man’s entire presidency has been based on trying to induce panic.

Well, c’mon now. A good fascist has got to act the part. How would it look if he had gone on television, told the American people the truth about the threat, and attempted to rally Americans, and reassure them we had what it took to get through this, if we worked together as one people? Now, how would that look? Of course it was more appropriate to scare the living bejesus out of his own supporters with non existent and exaggerated fears. For God’s sakes man, he has a cult to maintain.

BYU is leading the state in covid cases. It has more cases than Stanford and Cal combined. No wonder why it’s bleeding into their football team.

It has yet to beat Alabama. Alabama has almost as many covid cases as the entire California college and university system. I haven’t checked yet but I’d imagine Texas, Florida, Georgia are all seeing insane numbers too.

This pandemic is never going to end... sigh. Apparently this was organized by a BYU student. So I’d imagine cases are going to be spiking at both UVU and BYU over the next month.

Something for sure (though I imagine urbanization would be a better measure - eg Arizona isn't very dense technically, but very urban). You can certainly see it among US states where more rural states (Vermont/Maine/etc are doing better than the more urban ones).

Which leads me to, fat, old, unhealthy people on the verge of death, should not be the #1 priority. My wife, who's mom died at 45 8 years ago feels differently though, and I get that. I look at humans more in regards to nature, that sick and unhealthy will die and the healthy will be fine, I try not to be callous but that appears to be the reality of the situation.
