I don't think you even realize the complete mental inversion you express here.

The conspiracy theory in this thread is yours, and almost everyone else, who is suspicious that something big is being not told to you.

I'm the one who's saying there's no snake under this rock.

I expect that even with the possibly related Covid positives already announced, there may be several less-newsworthy cases just not disclosed publicly, and that there may be some testing positive across two weeks from the debate night or the little Barret gig.

Even so, this is not a national security event, because we do have effective treatment now. I suspect..... reasonably, because of the intense negative Press and the CDC and FDA paralysis or refusal to act rationally..... that a lot of people just are not getting treated even now, because some damn timid doctor won't use a treatment that is not fully vetted by the five-year process it takes to do a double-blind study with adequate numbers of adequately-documented cases.

The protocols for vetting medicines were invented by scientists paid well by the government as well as by major Pharma outfits and were loved for the expense and the time delay in the process, because any rational businessman knows competition will lower prices, and that upstarts don't have the cash it takes to exist long enough to get their product accredited. Meanwhile, every Pharma outfit has about twenty patent attorneys on staff who do nothing but scour every competitor, every peer-reviewed publication, and the patent office applications, just so the Bigs can scoop the upstart little guys and come out with their own "independently-developed" analog. We can get a fair enough idea of efficacy and safety without that whole song and dance.

In the time since Covid came on the scene, there have been some doctors, especially in China, out there trying everything under the sun, including witch's brews and every "natural herb" known to homeopathy. The doctors who have been using known anti-virals already somewhat researched have done pretty good with some things. These off-the-shelf antivirals, including HCQ/antibiotic/Zinc combos, have done pretty good. Not absolute answers, but a lot of stuff well above marginally effective. The political and bureaucratic resistance has cost tens of thousands of human lives.

Add to that the now known fact that Covid has not been nearly so serious as once feared, and that the public at large has a fair idea of how to minimize their exposure risks, and the result is that extreme public health orders are no longer necessary.

Throw out the added fact that ignorant politicians have badly abused their power and have been more of threat to public health than the disease itself, and it is just damn well time to stop the panic ****.

Not sure I care to believe this is something Trump said. More like another fake rant attribution. But in regard to the level of concern for people exposed in these events........

Pretty sure all these people have heard the news.

I think I did hear a denial being pushed in the news cycle that the WH was not going to do the contact tracing on the President. Obviously a minimization notion, but probably not the truth.

Everyone who has been anywhere near the events in the news or any event with shared contact possibilities knows what they need to do, and it is more likely, even with the deflections/minimizations, that the word is being spread to go get the test by five days and as late as 14 days.

I think the idea in the WH statement was more like they didn't care to try to find out who specifically brought it onboard. That fact is not as useful as the notice and realization that everyone is getting tested. Regardless of where it came from.....

Spreader persons might not have ever been symptomatic, and most able-bodied active sorts are not the high-risk case, so a large majority of those who had the contact and got the virus, with this kind of publicity, are making decisions about their further schedules/contacts or self-isolating and doing the testing. If they develop any symptoms they have a good chance of treating it.

This "outbreak" or spreader event is nothing like the ordinary person going about life and infecting five, ten, or twenty persons in an event or a day, with no one having any clue they have been in contact. A publicized event like these, relatively high-profile, gives sufficient public notice for however many, scores or hundreds of persons, possibly exposed, to take immediate precautions.

still, it is likely that a lot of infected people with positive tests at this point will not be running out and shouting it in the streets, and that puts it back on for further outbreaks consequently.

We will, inexorably, continue to have Covid cases...... forever. Maybe, in five or ten years, someone can do an eradication campaign worldwide, to terminate the virus forever, but this is not such a serious thing as smallpox that would even justify that effort.

The result will be a general "herd" immunity developing, and better treatements coming out, and better vaccines. We've come a long way in less than a year, and we are in fact past the need for such "Pandemic" public health measures. Common sense is what we need. And Trump is right about that.

Concentrate our efforts on the more vulnerable populations who need more precautions and more monitoring and testing.

Some fraction of these got it from somewhere else. Statistical probability. A person attending multiple events in a given time frame cannot absolutely be sure it was one specific event.

The spreader who got to Trump likely got to others in this list.

At current risk stats, there is only marginal hope any of these "deplorables" will be seriously affected, or killed by the virus, but in the thousands of downstream cases consequent, there will be some unimportant and less-deplorable folks who are seriously affected and who will even die.

Logically, we can blame this event for those deaths. However, in the long run, everyone will be exposed to the virus, and some will die. If we can slow the spread and flatten the curve enough we could potentially reduce the severity and the number of deaths with treatments, or avoid them altogether with a vaccination.

However, in a cost/benefit analysis, we have already done that effectively, and further efforts are in the zone of less-effective and more-cost. Even a full-scale vaccination campaign now will not be cost-effective in that respect. Going for herd immunity is the more realistic plan. The real deal virus is better than any vaccine, which now is more of common sense precaution indicated by personal circumstances high risk factors like health problems and work conditions. Frontline caregivers especially. It's time to get back to normal life, with perhaps some common sense.

I think the WH will be improving on that common sense thing.......

While it is certainly true that some people have died earlier than they would have if not for COVID, it is also quite apparent that the disease is not dramatically impacting the death rate.

cool! Now do damaged hearts, lungs, and long term fatigue. There’s more to this virus than death. Although, with 210,000 dead and at least another 100,000 more by January, is a pretty big deal.

Isn’t it amazing how Trumpers are still downplaying it? Why? That’s the thing I don’t understand. It’s like they just can’t bring themselves to admit a mistake.

So, you think it is a hoax? What about the people who have died that are younger? Even young children have died. Do we just ignore them? You know your argument is a red herring. It does not relate to the actual facts. It's only coincidence -- a Post Hoc fallacy. And what about the after effects of the virus? Why were they giving Trump steroids, because it's a hoax?
