Anthony Davis

The Thriller

I get that this isn’t directly related to the Jazz, but it definitely indirectly affects us. Anthony Davis just went down with an injury against Denver. He grabbed his Achilles. Hopefully it’s just a false alarm and he’s okay. But if he’s gone for an extended period of time, our path to the championship just got much easier.

definitely something to monitor.

I was trying to find some video of it but so far nothing.

He's been trying to play through a sore Achilles all season. It's clearly impacted his game.

I'm surprised they haven't shut him down.

it wasn’t anything obvious but achilles often aren’t...I strained my achilles playing bball once and was in a walking boot for two weeks, I can’t imagine how bad tearing it would be...not saying he did btw...

About 5% of people with tendinopathy have rupture. However, he’s walking around unassisted without switching his gait to have his Achilles leg function more as a peg, so I doubt there’s a full rupture there.

He was driving to the basket against Jokic. Didn't look too bad and he walked off but wasn't walking well at all.

Apparently this had been an issue earlier this week. Rachel Nichols during halftime said that he’s suffering from Tendinonis which is worse than tendonitis. Apparently what Davis is suffering from is a deterioration of his Achilles. Sooooo that sounds pretty horrible.

Honestly there are few injuries that freak me out more than something related to an Achilles.

Anyway, assuming he didn’t have a rupture and didn’t have a tear warranting surgical repair, they’ll probably hold him out for a while and be really cautious and it will likely be lingering, both physically and psychologically.

I don’t know if I even strained mine but once I did something to it and it hurt so bad. The only worse pain I’ve ever felt was a horrible ankle sprain I suffered in high school and being sick with H1N1 flu.

while having a pretty cushy life, I’ve had a concussion in football and had my tonsils out in my 30s and don’t wish those on anybody. Although, the resulting benefit of not having my tonsils far outweighs the temporary pain I had.

I’ll qualify my comments by stating that my expertise in Achilles ruptures stems from having rupture both of mine, two years apart.

I don’t get the asterisk thing. What do you mean by this?
Claiming that we couldn’t have beat the Lakers if they were healthy. Forever having “AD was out with injury” accompanying any historical reference of us winning it all.
