Cougars 2011-12 Football Discussion

This weeks game is huge for BYU, how do they get to play such compelling competition?

I'm a fan of trolling. I enjoy smack talk. I love rubbing **** into the faces of my lesser opponents.

You do none of this. Your attempts at smack, trolling, and **** talking fail so utterly hard, Pallin's election committee is jealous.

Nice blowout, Cougs! Yes, I know it doesn't mean anything, but it's certainly better than the alternatives.

That halftime interview with ISU's coach was classic.

ISU is bad, but considering they throw the ball on nearly every play, it's probably beneficial to give BYU's secondary that kind of test and they played pretty well. And also, it seemed like ISU was getting more pressure on Nelson than anybody else has been able to in the games he has played thus far so it was good to see him make some beautiful throws while hanging in the pocket with the pressure there as well. Guy's a total stud right now.

TCU should be a battle. About even teams overall I think.

Wait, Idaho State got pressure on the QB? Was the O-line out to lunches?

They did. It usually just one guy busting in early though, and since some plays actually are designed to let that happen, it could've just been that. It didn't appear to me that they were running anything that would allow that however. Regardless, Riley was still untouchable, but it's nice to see that he is willing to hang in the pocket now rather than last year when he would just take off instantly. Guy has improved by leaps and bounds, and a lot of that is probably due to simply not having to mentally worry about rotating quarterbacks or anything outlier like that.

Or a lot of it could be that BYU is playing the dregs of college football during Riley's starting run and what you are seeing is absolute fool's gold.

He's legit and will prove so against TCU. Utah fans should just happy the BYU game is not a Nov game this year.

I don't know what makes me more happy: The fact that you made another prediction or the fact that you just played the "you're just lucky you don't have to play us now" card.

The reasonable BYU fans in this forum must cringe each time they read one of your posts.

I'd also like to challenge the notion that TCU is any sort of measuring stick like in years past. They've dropped a game to an overrated Baylor squad who put up crazy numbers on them and lost to an SMU team who just got their asses handed to them by Southern Miss. Gary Patterson is obviously in a transition mode with this team. Are they better than what BYU has been playing recently? Absolutely, but let's not make them out to be something they're not.

I pride myself as being one of the reasonable BYU fans, but it's an interesting thing to contemplate. By my estimate, BYU's current quarterback is playing about 357% better than the one who played in the Utah game. And Utah's quarterback is about 195% worse than the one who played against BYU. I wouldn't go so far as to say "Utah is lucky...", but I think the game could easily go the other way if they had a rematch this weekend.

Disclaimer: all numbers in this post were made up off the top of my head

*sigh*

Yup. (and I'm far from "reasonable")

Remember how I called that game "fool's gold" for BYU and Utah fans because BYU simply fell apart and it had more to do with offensive ineptitude leading to defensive apathy rather than any major difference between the two teams and we would see Utah go in the tank and BYU go on a winning streak? Yup, nailed it again. Duckstrosdamus bitch, remember the name. I'll keep the predictions coming.

And the WTC was an inside job.

If Riley had played against Texas, would the Cougs have won that game? Personally, I think so. I don't think they would have beaten Utah, but I think it would have been close(r).

I thought it would be nice to have that game out of the way early, so I didn't have to endure your brand of idiocy for an entire season.

My optimism was misplaced, apparently.
