Ainge has also gotten a less then stellar rep with many players, easiest example is the Isiah Thomas thing where he plays through the death of his sister and through his hip injury.

Guess a cut throat reputation with GM's and players is a way to describe it.

I remember Robert Horry throwing a towel in his face when he was a coach lol...oh and Sidell Threatt punching him woozy in a game

And Jordan and bird and Isaiah. (Maybe bird was pretty good)
John elway?

I can’t tell if you’re saying those players were good or bad. Jordan has been bad. Isaiah was too for most part. Elway has been a mixed bag. Had some great licks but has been bad in other ways. Not sure if Bird was GM while he was the coach or after but he was a damn good HC. Only team to push the Bulls to a game 7...that went right down to the wire.

I mean Wade put together a heat dynasty... I'm cool with him having some say. I'd welcome Battier in some capacity as well.
Are you talking about the one with lebron? If so, I mean getting lebron in his prime is literally all you had to do to make a dynasty.

Maybe he will bring Durant to the jazz though, who knows

Yeah but as a player, he’s the guy that buried Notre Dame in the tourney on a last second drive, got a ring with Bird and once tackled Tree Rollins. Dude was fearless and played hurt and dare I say a better major leaguer than Jordan turned out to be. Good GM too. His hiring of Stevens was his downfall IMO.

Yeah... yes he got Lebron in his prime and Bosh (he was important). Wade is a good recruiter. He has experience with a team like Miami that is well run. Even if it is just recruiting a guy or two to come here he will be valuable. Not like he's the decision maker like Thomas was. Any damage he can do is limited.

Imagine we have a free agent meeting and Ryan, Donovan, Wade are all there... that's a pretty solid recruiting pitch/meeting.

I also think like @infection has mentioned... he can check DL on his BS.

Does Battier have any FO experience?

He’s with Miami right now.

So maybe DWade recommended him?
Saw him at summer league a couple years ago.... he sat in the back with a hat real low and was hyper focused... then he ducked out of there without stopping to talk with anyone. He blended in and no one knew he was there.

He's well regarded as a smart dude. Who knows how he is as a scout/GM but he's out there paying his dues.

I wouldn't replace Quin. The Jazz were a high-powered two-way team during the regular season. In the playoffs guys were compromised by injuries.

I'm a little more critical of front office moves. I understand that DL is operating under the assumption that Salt Lake is a small market and unattractive destination for some players. However, Ryan and DWade are trying to change that perception and create something of a cultural change. I could see front office moves being made on that account.

It’s a shame you couldn’t mix teams. Prime Dwill and prime Money Memo sure would’ve been fun to watch with this jazz team. Dwill and Spida would’ve been one hell of a backcourt.

I've yet to believe Quin can make winning adjustments in the playoffs and get past the 2nd round. 3-1 choke job... followed by a 25 pt halftime choke job... locker room is likely lost
