Jazz Offseason Plan

That early sub-pattern for Rudy meant that Rudy and Mike played oodles of minutes together against opposing bench units. It was a regular-season feast. Emphasis on REGULAR SEASON.
Yeah I just think that post season teams will adjust... IDK maybe its not a big deal at all so keep doing it if it makes Rudy happy.

Maybe you let Favs feast on the bench units for half a season while his trade value increases.

I’m trying to leave my mind open to the possibility that Fav’s unevenness last year was due to an outlier type of injury (rather than the usual doldrums he’s had).

I know this is probably dumb. And I know that even if it is true, it still makes more sense to move him (depending on costs, obvi). But maybe there’s a reason not to hate it if he returns.

He’s probably the nba’s second-nicest guy. Conley being the nicest. I love Favs, tbh.

According to Austin Horton’s source (as discussed on 1280 this morning), the Ingles/Bogey rumors are coming from teams that have interest in Ingles/Bogey (i.e., it’s not the Jazz trying to move anyone) and also, the Jazz are looking to trade the 30th pick for a pick in a future draft.

No judgement here... it's "talk yourself into dumb ****" season.

Punting the pick into the future would be a bad move unless its got really limited protections in the future... we need to get some solid young guys in the pipeline sooner if we are to convince Donovan to stick around. For a team with almost no young prospects to say "nah we will save a sliver of cash and get a pick in the future" is no bueno imo.

I will say though... I want to see Udoka... if he's not ready though we'd need a backup. Maybe we can have them take turns and manage Favs a bit. If he shows he's playable then he becomes an asset or Favs can be moved with some confidence.

However, I believe there is a scenario where having a future draft pick of another team gets us out of the Stepien Rule situation and frees us up to trade our future picks.

I don't buy this... it would be super random for like 5-6 guys to mention their names in trade rumors because they are in such demand from other teams. If you are the Jazz is that what you tell the local media? of course.

If this were the case you'd hear Jordan's name too. I think its pretty random that joe and Bogey would get mentioned and not him by these other teams. Combine it with Woj and Lowe saying "look at the math" and I think we know what it is.

You’re really asking a lot of Quin here.

We already can trade future picks (just have to have language that states they are in the first available draft)... we shouldn't though... the future of this team is murky and trading picks out that far can turn a 3 year rebuild into a 7 year rebuild.

If we just had a first next year, then we don't have to worry about any issues whatsoever.

I'm neutral on pushing our pick back to 2022 or beyond. It almost certainly guarantees us a better pick than #30, but we don't get to use a first rounder for possibly two years in a row (if we trade our pick during the draft after we make the selection and we don't get a 1st back for 2022).

You shouldn't trade a first in a solid draft for a future first unless you are flush with young players and picks. Getting one or two young players each year is ideal so that you can evaluate them. It is lazy GM work to punt it into the future.

We going to see what is what in SL this year. Udoka/Hughes need to make an impression.

This sounds like damage control to me.

On the one hand, I don't totally buy that the Jazz are TRYING to move Ingles/Bogey; on the other, I doubt the smoke is just from other teams interested in them. If there's a difference to split between these positions, that's where I'd put my view (as in the Jazz are probably willing to have discussions if a deal made sense, but they're not likely to go all out to move on from one or both if something doesn't make sense).

I wouldn't hate it if the Jazz traded for a future first with the 30th. I tend to think the Favors thing is likelier however (maybe it could come attached with a future 2nd?)

True... I do worry that SL is not the best place to see what some guys have. Udoka should at least be able to show defense, offensive rebounding, and finishing. Doubt anyone sets him up for lobs and ****... it can get really rough. Hopefully they find some competent PGs to help during SL.

He'll have Forrest on the roster.

Is this even a solid draft? Have to say that I’m really not impressed by the guys at #30. Especially when compared to previous years.
