We stink

This current core just can’t get it done. It’s time to shake things up. I say we package bogie with Rudy for a solid wing

This is a full strength Jazz team playing on a easy schedule humiliated at their home floor. FO looking at this should pull the trigger

I wouldn't put much blame on Snyder in the past as i don't think his coaching were a real problem with our playoff eliminations compared to how limited what he could do with the groups the fo gave him as of some really underwhelming recruitment and planings (tho i still ain't over going more for using Mudiay and Clarkson as sf than Morgan as a pf at the whole bubble, end of regular season and Nuggets series).

That being said, for this start of the season, there's two issues that i think should be on him as the coach to fix on the lineups. Ingles needs Rudy as his pnr partner, not Hassan. Whiteside is good on its own, but his screens not so much, and they don't get Joe going, which creates the opposite planned effetc of him as the help playmaker on Mitchell without Conley lineups, as we take the ball from Mitchell for Joe to dribble down the clock without going nowhere because he can't get an advantage and we end up with more hero ball, when that's actually what he would be there to make us avoid going that route. Other issue is, Rudy and Paschall won't work toghether, not without Paschall not being able to shoot (he can learn it on the future yeah, players did so in the past, but right now he can't and that's it). Teams can go 3 on 2 no hesitation, we need O'Neale there under these minutes when Gay isn't there, and at this point if there's no O'Neale too, i think it's time to give Fitts a run. That's two tweaks he has to make with his lineups.

Past that, it's on the team to walk the talk on their discourse of being interested on going all the way down to the title. Too much "we super friends, we can do it" and too little "we gonna enter this court and eat you alive, not sit and watch the other way around happen", and on that there's more guys playing bad basketball than Quin has proper reserves to cut down on players minutes

Seems like we start slow every year and look terrible and we all start to panic and then suddenly we go on a huge run and win like 20 of 22 games. Hopefully we're on the verge of making another one of those big runs.

Offense I’m not worried about. We’ll get there and it hasn’t been bad to begin with despite the awful shooting.

Defense? I am concerned, but I’ve had these concerns for years. When teams test our perimeter defense and make use play as a unit, as opposed to Rudy defending everything, the Jazz have trouble.

I said this a couple times in the game thread, but I expect we’re going to forget out the defensive issues once we get a string of bad teams who can’t take advantage. We’ll shoot better too. Come playoff time our strengths and weaknesses will more or less be the same, which is expected when the roster is also more or less the same.

Rudy Gay is going to make a huge impact.

Actually i expect Gay to help quite a ton, but doesn't feels much good the need to wait the comeback of a 35 yo vet coming of surgery who we expect to play not more than an average of 20 minutes off the bench (if that much) to then, just then, start to play actually proper ball.

And that's not even asking much if he'll need another 2 weeks to be able to play for us, or if it's more like another month, which i'm totally in for don't rush the man, let him take wathever time he needs to get really read to go (as much frustating as it can be to wait with the Jazz option to left as much in the dark of how his rehab is going as they can get away with), as i'm more concerned with level of play overall (which may also include depth) than win-loss column and seedings.

We currently rank 27th in the league in passes per game and 29th in assists per game. Last year we were 12 in passes and 22nd in assists.

This was my observation, that we have stopped all ball movement. We are playing exclusively drive and kick or hero ball. No way that is sustainable and we see it already. The motion offense is gone. No more blender. Great recipe for disaster.

Not only is it not a great strategy for winning, it's also not fun to watch. We used to have such great ball movement that was so fun to watch.

Jordan Clarkson is playing with zero basketball intelligence atm and I think its rubbing off on everyone. Not to mention the absolutely pathetic defense displayed by our guards as a whole. Donovan is a dissapointment on that end.

While I agree that our ball movement has been terrible teams are adjusting and playing more physical defence on us, pushing our guys off their pick up points and over playing the passing lanes. Back cuts would be handy but our lack of back court size makes it hard for us to pass over the defence.

True of every year with Synder except last year. FWIW.
