Can We Just Flipping Sign House Please!

I like House a lot. He's been a live body. He's been fun to have out there. He has competed. I am excited we kept him around and am confident he will play over NAW... even if Quin has to give NAW a courtesy tryout.

House is someone I have wanted on our team in the past. The kind of irritating dude you don't like playing against. Not quite the full ******* we really need, but a great addition nonetheless. Not to mention he is probably automatically our best perimeter defender.

And for anyone asking 'Why not next season?', I would challenge that it may not make sense for House or us.

We'll want to keep our options open and even at a minimal salary, we might simply find other players that are a better fit for us that can produce more. House was a street FA for a reason - doesn't mean he's not good, just means that teams were happy with what they had.

And for House, he might be betting on himself. Rather than perhaps settling for a minimum contract for next year, he might use the regular season and the playoffs to parlay that into a better contract next year (maybe for Utah, maybe for another team).

All that said, I will be a bit peaved if he simply rides pine knowing minutes are going to be limited. Even if it's only <10 a night, I'd like him to spell Royce a bit. He might even be able to eke some of Gay's minutes as he's no spring chicken and we need that flexibility in the playoffs.

Minutes are going to be interesting.

Forrest needs minutes, House needs minutes. I would think they actually want to try NAW out, so he will need minutes.

Then there's the whole Gay/Paschall minutes thing.

I guess it's a good thing the Jazz have options.

I think this year's bench is definitely worse than last year's, but this year's bench is deeper with playable players.

I would have like to get a team option... that's what the Lakers did with Stanley. House may have said no... In that case I'd have given him a second year minimum. If he gets on the court... which he will... I think there is a good chance he shows out and gets a bigger payday.

The bolded portion of your quote... the reason he was a street FA was what??? The answer is he had sex... consensual intercourse. He was always a solid 3 and D player and without that sin he wouldn't have a scarlet letter attached to him. I think he shakes that nonsense off of him with a little playing time for a competent franchise. I think it is likely we can keep him at a bargain if we want next year but there is some slight downside risk.

If we had a healthy Ingles I think the bench is better but that's a big absence. I like our versatility much better this year.

I see the guards rotation being actually way more packed than the wings spots, unless NAW proves he can play as a wing, which i'm not really expecting of him right now.

As for minutes for everyone, rest Royce, Bogey and Gay. Not all at the same, but get them healthy to the playoffs.

We're hardly beating Memphis for the 3rd seed, and even if we can, problably the prize for that is playing the Nuggets with Murray back to their lineup, and a 2nd round against a Warriors that is a worse team scheme nightmare for us than the Suns. Just keep homecourt advantage and hope for the bracket to stay as it is.

I wonder is this will have Quin loosen up a little on rotations and give more people some minutes? It allows him to see what he has in the new guys but also gives our veterans some needed rest. The two new guys were middle first round draft picks so other teams thought they have some talent and ability.

NAW will be Ersan 2.0. Mop up minutes. Break glass in case of injury.

I doubt he gets any rotational minutes.

They better sign House already. Bare minimum, if you sign him until the end of next year, he becomes a decent enough add-in for a trade, or a way to get another 2nd rounder. We saw exactly how hard
it is to make progress with no realistically tradeable assets yesterday.

Jazz are going to play 3 guard lineups a lot.

Niang/Ingles/Clarkson all had career years last year. Favors wasnt nearly as bad as people make him out to be. It was just a thin bench after that.

I think people saying this bench is better is just revisionist history cuz they remember how badly the bench played in the playoffs.

Just because that's what we know about him doesnt mean that was the reason he wasnt on a roster. There was most likely other stuff as well. He was flat out bad last year for Houston and he started this year being beyond garbage for Houston. He's a dime a dozen type player who is approaching 30.

Hopefully what he did with Utah while he was here was actually legit and he just needed the right situation to thrive.

Those guys are really not a dime a dozen. Its the guys like Oni that aren't actually good enough shooter or defenders that are a dime a dozen.

Oni's problem wasnt shooting or defense tho.
I mean he didn't make enough shots and couldn't defend without fouling.

You can find 3 and D wings in House's tier but they aren't a dime a dozen. We've been hunting for those types without a lot of success. I'm probably a bigger believer in him being what he was on the good Houston teams than you... I understand.

Oni's shooting was fine. His problem was extreme yips and nervousness whenever he got the ball. Very tragic type player.

Defense was good too. He did foul a lot when tasked with guarding very good players, but his overall D was good.
