Game Thread Feb 27, 2022 01:30PM MT: Jazz at Suns

Only thing about this game...

Jazz starters for the most part got blitzed by the Suns starters.

Suns bench was absolutely dreadful - and frankly the Suns missing CP3 and Cam Payne is probably the biggest reason this game turned out the way it did.

Don't get me wrong - I am thrilled with the win. The media talking about the Suns falling off is great for the Jazz with this win.

But this was not a pretty win by any means.

EDIT: Just think about this - they were up by 9 with 1:30 left, and it took a deep Clarkson YOLO 3, and a Mitchell bank 3 to hold off a late Suns charge. Like that is a little alarming...

This W didn't come against the Magic or a GLeague team..

This was a ****ing glorious win by all means. Quin showing some flexibility for ****ing once by letting House close instead of Royce was magical.

No need to troll Crowder on this one. They didn't lose because of him. He's 5-10 and 4-8 from deep and has the second highest plus/minus on the Suns team with +11. It would’ve been a blowout loss for the Suns if it wasn't for him.
He was responsible for two bad Blw by straight line drives from Clarkson and old man Conley. Something that happened constantly during his time here and he took away any chance Suns had to force overtime. And a late badly missed three late he shouldn’t have taken.

Booker scored 18 in the 2nd half, and frankly House helped the Jazz more by hitting open shots than defending Booker.

Lets not get carried away here.

I disagree.

The Suns started the game making shots at an impossible rate to go up 14 early.

We outscored them 108-90 the rest of the game.

Lol Booker and the Suns were two offensive rebounds away from being down 12+ and the game being over.

We’re up 108-99, House plays good defense on Booker forces a missed shot with help from Whiteside but Ayton gets offensive rebound and scores. Then we’re up 110-101 and Booker gets swatted into the shadow realm but it goes right into a Suns players hand which then leads to 3. Without either one of those plays the Suns go down double digits and game is over. Score did not reflect how much we outplayed them in the second half. Regardless all that matters is we got the W.

And the Jazz were helped by several major bounces on the offensive glass... Comon dude...

We won and that is freaking great. Seriously - losing to them 7 straight times was pretty damn tough.

But there are several red flags in that game that unfortunately are not going away.

i mean, securing defensive boards in the clutch has been one of our biggest woes. regardless of our overall rebounding stats, we just can't rebound when it matters.

Meh.

The Suns came out swinging hard and were playing at playoff intensity, after their loss to the Pels. They were calling it a playoff game during mic'd up segments on their bench. They put us in a big early hole.

We overcame a lot of the stuff that usually buries us, and House closing over Royce was a revolutionary progression.

This was a GREAT win.

That was actually Mitchell I think that mentioned it was a playoff game.

And it was a GREAT win - I'm not saying otherwise. But its also hopefully not something that the team doesn't ignore in terms of all the things that went wrong.

And a rather severe alarming stat - look at their starters vs. our starters +/-. Its pretty ugly.
