What's new

Ty the turd already on thin ice with me

I didn't read that as CJ and Hayward necessarily competing for the same starting spot. I read it as CJ and Hayward really battling in practice. I don't think Ty has any preconceived notions about anyone starting or not starting at this point.

Ty has a big challenge with not only who starts, but who gets minutes. Plus, what is his philosophy on who plays down the stretch of games. Give Ty a break, just because he says something in an interview doesn't mean it's time to throw him under the bus.

And here I was just telling my grade 7s to only use big words when they are sure of their meaning.

First of all, I'm glad we still have the rotation complaints with Corbin as we did with Sloan. That is awesome.

I'm just wondering if we even want Bell to mentor the young guys. Maybe defensively?

In his heyday Bell was decent all around. He at least understands the game at that position. We could have worse mentors. Does anyone want any of our new guys learning all of CJ's tricks? Ugh.

Ty also said CJ is playing fast and athletic while Hayward's being stronger is helping him. That kind of suggests a 2 and 3 pairing. But at the same time, I would imagine he's worried about not having reliable scorers on the 2nd unit. That could mean CJ on the 2nd unit. But whatever the case, who actually starts is irrelevant to minutes and closing halves/games.

You're right, whoever is on the court during crunch time is what's important. But starting Bell would be like starting a game 4-on-5 and the opposition could build a 15 point lead right off the bat because he's so deficient in every facet of the game. Corbin is a basketcase and probably thinks he has to start Bell because of his reputation from 2005.

A career ending injury? So you want the guy to get hurt? What a jackass. I am no fan of Bell and I think he was horrendous last year but I dont want the guy to get hurt.

...lighten up! A "career ending" injury for Bell would be......a sprained ankle!

We actually know very little of Corbin's coaching style or effectiveness. What is your evidence he is a "basketcase"? We also have no idea who is going to start. We all have our guesses, but we will all in some way be surprised when it all kicks off.

Rep'd. What an awful OP. Let the season start already.

I have the highest rep per post in the history of this website. How dare you, and your passive aggressiveness, challenge me! Nothing I've ever written could ever be labeled as awful. I admitted my error earlier in this thread. I know what the meanings of successor and predecessor are - it was just really early when I typed the message. I was also boiling over with delusional rage. I cannot wait for the season to start - so we're in agreement there.

No!!!! The notion that Bell is a good defender is absolutely preposterous! He was abused the last three seasons he's played in the NBA on that side of the floor.

He knows how to defend, and was a fiery defender when he was good.
Now he's injured and old and he just hasn't been able to get it done.

He might be ok as a mentor though. He is well spoken, and should be able to clearly define what should be done.
Remember coaches don't necessarily still have to be able to do the things they are coaching, they just have to know how to get others to do them.

That being said, I'm not defending Bell as a mentor, I just don't know one way or the other.... but it could be possible.

Bell has his use for the Jazz. I mean someone has to keep the chairs warm for the guys as they sub in and out.

You should edit your post to 'I actually know...'

WE (real jazz fans who watched every game last season) know plenty from last season's stint about his style/effectiveness. My evidence he is a basketcase is watching his demeanor on the sidelines, substitution patterns (especially during different circumstances) and post game interviews.

I've said since the end of last season I'll give him 20 games into the start of this season before the first-year excuse rubs off. I'm hoping he's learned basketball isn't a game of dissonance and has a better feel for the personnel on the roster. But if after 20 games into the season he doesn't have the right guys on the floor, in roles best suited for their skill-sets, then I will be screaming from the highest mountain in Utah for his job!

Never thought I would ever hand out negative reps. Congratulations on changing my mind.

I still have severe issues.

Agree.

Can't wait for about two weeks into the season, when the board monkeys will be throwing **** around like kids on a playground having a snowball fight.

No games going on yet, but I guess some people just have to have something to complain about.

This is one of the most actually insane tirades that I've ever seen on this site. It's only a couple of shades below write4u's full-blown delusional paranoia conspiracy theory corner.

Oh no, I'm sure Ty is really scared that he's on thin ice with CHITOWN JAZZ.

That's a good one. The theme and intent of your post fundamentally opposes the purpose of this message board, however. So unless you remain consistent and never offer your opinion on the Utah Jazz - which I believe is unlikely - I'll file your post under worthless and attach the famous U MAD pictures that seem to be hip on the web these days.

I sense all the self-righteous, pseudo-classy anonymous internet posters ganging up on me. But as a wise man once said, all revolutionaries end up being heretics - or something of that sort.

My perspective on all things Utah Jazz has always been a step above the rest of this community sans a few posters (none of which still post). Time will prove all my claims to be true and my logic flawless.

So your judgement on his entire career as a coach, and his abilities to succeed in his first full year as a head coach in the NBA, are based on how he picked up the pieces of a shattered organization whose top player left in the middle of the season, not to mention their hall-of-fame 20+ year coach, and who now had to figure out a way to integrate several new players, as well as rookies who now were carrying heavier minutes, all while being short a coach on staff and being in the middle of a media firestorm.

And then on top of that, suddenly you are the Grand Poobah of all NBA coaching, so you have perfect knowledge of which players will work best on the floor at any given point in time?

Really?

Delusion, thy name is chitownjazz.
