Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

You’d think I was talking about your significant others when I bring up something about Gobert. It’s so ****ing annoying and you guys are oddly obsessive over one player.

It’s easy to like a player more than others and still be objective. I love Donovan more than anyone on here and I can still say he played terrible defensively for the majority of the series and shot the 3 ball terrible against the Mavericks. It’s really not that hard I promise.

Our best player being a wash with their 3rd/4th best player at the same position is the very definition of getting outplayed.

Getting outplayed would mean he got outplayed. Playing to a wash would mean they played to a wash (it wasn't a wash).

When your expected output is to be way better than him and it’s a wash then I’m not sure what that is then if it isn’t getting outplayed.

Was Rudy just bad that series then?

It's 2022 and you should know that FG% is not efficiency. Gobert TS was 66.5% compared to Capela at 57%. That is a massive difference. The world in which their efficiency is similar is a world where you do not consider making FT's meaningful in any capacity.

ON/OFF in a five game sample size is hilarious. Now compare how the other players on the court were doing when these two were on the floor. Was the difference in their play, or the play of the others? Easy answer.

You just admitted to them playing to a wash....which is by definition not being outplayed. They didn't play to a wash, but even if they did that is a wash not being outplayed.
I don't think he outplayed Rudy either... but he was quite good in the series and rose to the occasion. I don't think that is the player we end up getting... but if we did AND the other parts were awesome... then maybe we are a top 4 team in the west again??? And then maybe... just maybe... Don will renew his lease with us for another 6 months.

You presented fake fakes and were responded with real facts....guess it must be a personal bias. Got it...It's my personal obsession with Rudy that makes me believe what I believe, not the facts or arguments presented.

Capela was quite good (better than usual) and Rudy was not as good as normal.

What does that mean exactly?

Yes, but Ryan believes this is a Choose Your Own Adventure book.
He hasn't made it out to that section of the book store... he is checking out the Magic the Gathering Cards still.

Did Capela play better than normal in that series and did Rudy play worse than normal?

Realistically, where would you expect us to place defensively with Capela? I see no argument to expect it to be much better than 25th....very hard to be a top 4 seed in the west with that kind of defense.

It doesn't mean he was outplayed though. I never thought in that series "if you switched Capela and Rudy the Jazz win". Both guys feed off of other players and Harden is worlds better at putting defenses in jail.

Gordon played pretty well and Donovan was pretty bad by his standards... Did Gordon outplay Donovan?

Capela did not play better than normal, I think Rudy played worse than his normal. Hard to say because the situation was very different from a regular season game. There was nothing normal about what either team was doing defensively.

Having said that, it's really irrelevant to your language. You said they played to a wash, if that's what you believe, then Capela did not outplay him. In order to outplay Rudy, he must have had to play better than Rudy. You can't say it was a wash but also that Capela outplayed him. Those things cannot exist at the same time.

When the playing field to start isn’t even and it’s a wash afterwards I think one side outplayed the other don’t you?

Capela was their 3rd or 4th best player this is the entire point. Why should you expect the Jazz to win if we swapped him with our best player? I think Gobert could have played better that series and Capela rose to the occasion in that series. Did Gobert really step up to help us win in that series? He didn’t hurt us but he didn’t do anything to significantly increase our chances of winning.

Only reason we even won one game was because of Donovan.

No. I think that means you'd be very happy with how the matchup went. It does not mean one side outplayed the other.

And again, they didn't even play to an even level. But if they did, that is a wash not being outplayed. It is impossible to play to a wash and also be outplayed.

I mean it depends on a lot of things. Is Donovan going to fulfill his annual promise to be better defensively? Probably will be marginally better... will at least be motivated to prove something with Rudy gone. Are the parts of KCP, JC, Huerter (or whatever we get) better than Mike, Bogey, etc. Does a new coach provide some switching stuff... Like Sean Sweeney didn't have a major change in personnel on the Mavs and they went from awful to awesome.

I think we go from 11th to maybe 19th or 20th in most situations. Maybe we fall below that. Our number this year is a little wonky because Rudy missed more time than normal. I don't think we are bottom 5 though...

Your point is well taken though.
