Yeah... applying math to humans is kinda hard.
Ok that makes sense I was ****ing confused for a second my bad lol.

Collins is just in a weird spot talent-wise. He isn't bad enough to be a simple role-player but isn't good enough to carve out a bigger role. He still relies a lot on assists. If he was a better defender or a passer, it would be more stomachable and you could sell yourself on potential. With Collins and Huerter I think its a fascinating experiment. Were they the beneficiaries of Trae's great passing or were they somewhat neutered by his ball dominance and they have a bit more to give.
Probably right.Lol I would love that. Won’t happen though. We most likely have to swap Bogey for Hunter if we want him or compromise and take Huerter which isn’t bad at all.
Probably right.
I hope we push really hard for Hunter, and then settle for Okongwu. Worst case, Huerter. I just hope it's not just Collins and Capela.
Is that due to his talent level or due to the fact that Trae has to be involved with everything?Collins is just in a weird spot talent-wise. His assisted %FGM is at %82, Rudy's is at %72 for comparison.
I also am not sure how far Atlanta will go on a trade with Rudy. Their salary cap situation is dicey and adding Rudy's big max to Trae's supermax (now that he made all-nba). I would be surprised if they went further than Rudy+Bogey for Capela, JC, Huerter, 16. If I was in their shoes I doubt I'd go that far.If the Jazz can get Okongwu and #16 then I might be interested. As it stands, Capella is about as league-average as a player gets IMO and feels negative value and I think JC would be traded again in another year but I'm not sure what that yield will be. Those two pieces feel like a lot of ****ing around to find out absolutely 0 with how they fit into the team in ~5 years which is all I care about.
I think Trae is the bigger pain though... and JC may be the guy who doesn't bend to his will.I think with PG Don paired with Collins it could actually be really ugly. Trae dominates the ball but he's also waaay better at setting up and delivering passes than Don is. And if Collins is angry about Trae's shortcomings in setting him up, the Don/Collins honeymoon period could be VERY brief. And make no mistake, the reason Collins has been perpetually in rumors is because he's a pain in the *** about this stuff.

Chicago is the team to me that should do what it takes since they have Lavine, Derozan in their primes and have some other defensive parts to pair with Rudy. Going from Vuc to Rudy is such a monumental difference for them it would give them a real shot at something meaningful. Vuc, Williams, Ayo, 2022 1st, and a future first seems pretty reasonable in their situation. I'd take White too or flip him to another team for some draft capital.
If I am Atlanta I think the most I do is Clint, JC, and 16...Is that Chicago deal better than the Atlanta deal? I don’t think so.

If I am Chicago I'd do Vuc, Williams, 19, future first, White and very likely Ayo too.
I prefer the Chicago package of those two.
What the teams actually offer will vary greatly from what I would do obviously.
I think he has become a better defender... I'm not particularly hopeful he becomes more than what he is... I just know some guys do better when they touch the ball more... even if they aren't creating per se.Collins is just in a weird spot talent-wise. this is a cop out but it depends on the extension price. If it is reasonable then Hunter (though I am not a big fan). If he wants $20M+ I'll take Huerter.Would you rather have Hunter or Huerter coming back if you had to choose?
You really think Chicago would offer that much?If I am Atlanta I think the most I do is Clint, JC, and 16...

Hunter all day every day, there's a reason the Hawks have been reluctant to move Hunter but have shopped Huerter multiple times.Would you rather have Hunter or Huerter coming back if you had to choose?
It depends on what your goals are as an organization and how much you believe in Collins. I want to rebuild aggressively so the Capella/JC/#16 doesn't appeal to me very much at all AND that might already be more than they're willing to send. I also think it is a significant red flag that rumors have been out on Collins for years despite his raw production. Is that Chicago deal better than the Atlanta deal? I don’t think so.
Trading the only good defender the Jazz have, then to build around a guy who's already declining is so stupid. Not to mention Mitchell will demand a trade pretty soon after he realizes the Jazz are trash without Gobert.
You never trade a star for a few fringe starters and end up being championship contenders.

For those coming after Collins' defense, I just saw this. Somebody decipher please:
