Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Conley and Gay are likely viewed as borderline negative assets though. Beverly, Bojan, Clarkson, and Beasley though…
Gay definitely is but Conley is only partially guaranteed after next year so he should be viewed as a neutral asset.

The hornets need to be sending out Bouknight or a 1st in that deal. We are seriously bailing them out contract wise and they get 2 quality players. Not feeling the other deal at all. We need to be keeping our 1st rd pick next year.
Yeah very confused how we get them off Haywood and don’t get anything for it….and give them 2 dudes that will be in their rotation.

"Deandre Ayton, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and five picks still isn't enough to me for KD," one general manager told Jake Fischer.

The NBA needs to change their rule about trading future draft picks. Dennis Lindsey put us in a spot where we can’t trade our pick for a 4 year period to dump favors lol

KD has become seriously overrated. You strip Phoenix like that and make their key pieces geezers those far out draft picks are gold.

I don't think he is overrated as a player but I completely agree about trade value. The guy is about to be 34 and has an injury history that should scare any team.

Yeah paying 37/38 year old KD the super max will probably destroy a team. So it really only makes sense if you think your team can make a title push in the next 2 seasons. So with that in mind I’d say the only 3 teams that make sense are the Heat, Raptors, and Suns.

So here's what the Memphis Grizzlies' rebuild looked like:

2017 - Grizzlies were the 7th seed in the WC with key players including Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and Tony Allen.
2018 - Grizzlies tanked it and ended up with the #4 pick Jaren Jackson Jr.
2019 - They traded Marc Gasol during the season and tanked again, ending up with the #2 pick Ja Morant and #21 Brandon Clarke. They traded Mike Conley to the Jazz right before the draft.
2020 - Their new young core of Ja Morant / Jaren Jackson Jr., along with pickups like Kyle Anderson and Jonas Valanciunas, was 9th in the WC. They traded to draft Desmond Bane at #30.
2021 - Finished 8th in the WC and lost to the Jazz in the 1st round. They traded up in the draft to take Ziaire Williams at #10. Core was Morant / Brooks / JJJ / Valanciunas.
2022 - Finished 3rd in the WC and lost to the Warriors in the 2nd round. Core is now Morant / Bane / JJJ.

If CP or KD goes down with a routine injury, like an ankle or hamstring, their immediate draft picks could be decent too. PHX's quality depth would be gone, along with their cap space and draft picks.

Jazz really need lottery picks back in a Donovan Mitchell trade. Not maybe mid-late, 1st-rd picks, but lottery picks. We need to trade Donovan before the draft to a team with a definite lottery pick that we like.

It's too bad we couldn't get #4 from Sacramento this year. In hindsight, we should have been trying to do that. Maybe we did.

I think MEM and NOP should be our models. Small markets that cashed in on some all-stars, tanked for a couple years and both are in excellent positions for the next few years.

One correction though, MEM finished 2 in the west this year.

Memphis only got late 1sts from UTA for Mike Conley, picks that became Brandon Clarke and Jake Laravia. That's not good enough.
