Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

From the Knicks forum:

jazzfans forums are garbage. Numberica, Elizah Huge and all of them don’t have a clue as to what value they’re going to get in a trade. Leon isn’t falling for the BS

Lmao!!!

They have dudes saying they can only have 3 players on a max so that means Randle is getting moved since Brunson and Mitchell would be the other 2 when Barrett gets his extension. Spoiler alert Randle and Brunson aren’t on max contracts. We aren’t dealing with the brightest guys…

I can’t wait to make a thread with purely their reactions after Ainge gets 6 1sts and 3 pick swaps plus young players.

They want us surrender to them

Don is a 3 time Western Conference all star. He's better than top 30. That would assume that, on average, every single team has at least one player better than Don. He's closer to top 20, higher if you factor in his age and star power as an asset.
He's not near top 20.

I mean the Knicks haven't had a real all star since Carmello Anthony. Screwing up an opportunity to get one that absolutely fell in their laps is probably the most on-brand Knick thing ever. All of that franchise's base is casuals. The casuals don't care about pick protection or the potential of Grimes or Quickley. They want a headliner. Brunson ain't that.

If presented with this opportunity and they blow it, even if it is because they are being prudent, would be an utter failure. The highest franchise point this millennium was like two weeks of Linsanity, and there have been multiple documentaries.

Parking Donovan Mitchell in New York would be like printing money. Which is why the Knicks are going to screw it up.

If I was a fan of the New York Pants I would probably loathe myself and project it onto others as well.

What percentage of Knicks fans know that “knicks” are pants, by the way?

Knicks will make big money off Donovan
His jersey sales will be terrific
Every commercial he does with a Knicks jersey will make Knicks money
Ticket sales will sell out and on and on good
He might become most popular athlete in NYC
Don't know any NYC athletes currently

Of actual player value? Of course he is. Way higher if you factor in available player value. Most of the players ahead of him will never be available, and almost certainly not to the Knicks.
Not close.

He's probably in the 28-35 range.

You spoke in absolutes about the Knicks being no better than barely beating out the play-in because of the difficulty that is the East. I was simply playing devil’s advocate and saying you never know, referencing their 4th seed two seasons ago. Not sure why you’re being argumentative.

In short, we can’t get cute and overthink this. It’s the Knicks.
Not really… I said they are 50-50 to be a playoff team. Even hitting as a 4 seed would be barely missing the play in… it might be 2-3 games difference between 4/5 and 7. If you think that is talking in speaking in absolutes then I’m not sure we can talk about much here without 400 caveats.

Don is really really good, there is a very good chance we go a long time before we see a better player on the team. That being said, I would settle for 2 players at 90% of his value over 6'5".

No doubt about that. Ever post he makes on twitter has a ton of replies from knicks fans. This is why we gotta make them pay up to get him .

I suspect Cy would do dumb *** Cy stuff and rank like 5 rookies ahead of Don. Sorry, there is a reason you are a failed self styled Twitter analyst. Your contrarianism is tiresome.
  1. Lebron
  2. Durant
  3. Giannis
  4. Jokic
  5. Embiid
  6. Trae Young
  7. Dejounte Murray
  8. Anthony Edwards
  9. Bradley Beal
  10. Paul George
  11. Kawhi Leonard
  12. Damian Lillard
  13. Steph Curry
  14. Chris Paul
  15. Devin Booker
  16. Jayson Tatum
  17. Jimmy Butler
  18. James Harden
  19. Kyrie Irving
  20. LaMelo Ball (possibly)
  21. Ja Morant
  22. Luka Doncic
  23. Rudy Gobert
  24. Karl Anthony Towns
  25. Zion Williamson
  26. Brandon Ingram
  27. Anthony Davis
  28. Shai Gilgeous Alexander
  29. DeMar Derozan
  30. Zach Lavine
  31. Jaylen Brown
  32. Jamal Murray
  33. Donovan Mitchell

And no, this is not an ordered list. I would put Mitchell firmly in the 28-32 range. And there are a lot of players in the 30-40 range who will be coming for top 30 spots. Mitchell is in danger of falling further out when he takes the Knicks to a 10th seed play-in 1 and out game.

Just because I disagree with your incredibly uninformed opinion does not make me a contrarian. I'm sure many would agree with me. Defense is a thing. Crazy how when you disagree with people they resort to name calling and insults. I would never.

Failed self styled twitter analyst? WTF does that even mean. I have a twitter and I tweet my NBA thoughts. Didnt know I was failing. If follower count is how you measure "success" (who gives a ****) then you have to be overwhelmingly positive and ignorant to get over 1K followers from Jazz twitter.

Dear Knicks fans reading this board,

Our logic is based on the following:
- We just got 5 FRP for Rudy Gobert
- The national media guys (who have sources) are saying that Don probably goes for 6 FRP

But, for some reason, your front office that has all of the leverage in negotiations with one of the most ruthless GMs of all time for a player who hasn’t even demanded a trade.

Good luck with that one. I’d love to hear one logical argument that supports any of the nonsense you’re spewing all over the internet.

If you don’t add like a few bing bongs and really dumb it down I’m not sure they will get it.
