I agree but Poeltl and Richardson would make them much better than Russ... so you sell it as a basketball move that creates "flexibility".

I'm just saying there are other potential teams out there... I think we are the best match... but they also might elect to keep Russ and the picks (it seems nuts but maybe they dumb enough to do it).

Last thing: the difference between the situations is that the Jazz wouldn’t be low-balling the Lakers. It can be a simple ‘what I got for what you got’ trade. The other thing is this is post Danny nuking the Knicks by saying “I meant what I said.”

This is probably all a debate on the margins: protected AT ALL vs not, Vando, **** like that. Would be an incredible loss of value for all parties to be miserly.

Or that they don’t want salary on the books the next year, or that their particular package isn’t worth 2 firsts (it isn’t). Or that the Pacers just gave up too soon and created an even stronger position for the Jazz.

The Pacers have the best available package.

If Collins is healthy he is pretty good.

McDermott would fit well as a shooter. He is on the books next year though, so maybe not what the Lakers want.

Yep, and one of their primary concerns is keeping AD healthy which means making sure he isnt the starting center.

The Pacers are out and I’m not sure how much they were really in. And no, Hield’s money is not better than getting off all the money and getting depth too. Beasley’s probably as good or better, too.

I don't see us giving up a young prospect on a multi-year contract. Lakers are in win now mode. They want vets and expiring contracts. We want young prospects on long, reasonable contracts. Sure, the Lakers SHOULD want a guy like Vando, but there is no incentive for the Jazz to get rid of players just like him.

Multi? As in two? The two years we’re probably tanking and we won’t have restricted free agency rights?

Draft capital is wonderful incentive to trade a guy that isn’t on the timeline.

I don't know... I think he is similar to Dwight with his nonsense and they aren't desperate enough. If he is still a FA that might be a midseason pickup.
