Game 1: Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers, 8:30 p.m MT..Game Thread

Jefferson didn't play Gasol much better. Kanter is still just 19... There is a learning curve for this game.

Of course I agree with you. But there is no need to proclaim him some kind of defensive force when he clearly is not. Most of the Jazz fans here have problem as they tend to overvalue Jazz team and Jazz players... like - "Hayward is going to take Kobe to school, "we will outrun them", "Favors will be dunking over Gasol" etc, etc...BS!!! They are young, none of them has All-star written all over ... They will get blown out on the road a lot this and most likely next year. Some people need to keep their expectations to the minimum and stop making biased posts about our players.

Everybody played terrible. We know that. The biggest problem is this:

We're trying to do too much off the ball. You can't run a UCLA offense with a bunch of new guys right off the bat. Work it in gradually. Run more 2 on 2 in the half court after the first 12 seconds. I don't remember ONE P&R from the wing.

I was pleasantly suprised by kanter. I thought his D was solid. Yes they scored on him but if you compare his to AL's then he looked like an all star. AL had to have a double team and Kanter was on Gasol by himself. For his first real game I say A+.

I have never claimed that he was going to be some defensive force. I think many on here think he can be adequate. We are hoping to see him finish better around the rim. These things will only show up if he continues to get playing time.

I'm really baffled by Ty's decisions to stick with units that aren't working. We got killed in the second, and destroyed in the 3rd. Minimal substitutions. The 3rd was the worst. We went 10 minutes getting slaughtered and only Millsap came in. Ty was like a deer in the headlights.

I will say Kanter was one of the few players that looked like they try hard the whole time he was in, Milsap started to once the game was almost over and Bell *shutter* did a little bit on D (but he looked petrified of the ball on offense) I guess early on to Favors had small bursts of trying hard but that's the problem when one player (Kanter) stood out due to trying harder by far than everybody else then it's gonna be a long ugly night.

Why the he## didn't we push the ball on a aging team playing its 3rd game in 3 days? I want to give Corbin a chance but if he can't make some common sense coaching adjustments in light of who your playing Im jumping on the anti Corbin bandwagon soon.
If we want any chance of wining this year its going to be pushing the ball and utilizing our young legs and talent.

I'm chalking this up to a disaster where the snowball rolled down hill. It will probably keep rolling against Denver. But I pray Ty will put a little more 2 on 2 game into the plan until the whole offense he's dreaming of can actually work.

Ty used 11 players in the first half and was blasted for it but he definitely made mistakes for sure

Evans comes in for 5 minutes and make 4 points. Jefferson plays for about 25 and makes 4 points. Explains everything.

This was my one complaint about Corbin last year is that he didn't seem to have a feel for substitutions. This is where a veteran assistant coach can help by telling him that maybe Jefferson should sit down because all that "work" he did in Santa Barbara isn't paying off.

If he needs an assistant to tell him that, he needs to cease and desist.

The worst thing about this game is that the lakers played horrible. Which only goes to show how we Played! Hopefully it is just opening day rust and jitters!

Howard looked like he wanted to play, as well. Kanter is weak in the flex. Afraid to pass down low, so the ball stagnates when it gets to him. Bell has no business getting the ball early in the shot clock, so he's not good in the flex. Harris is not a good floor general. He creates defenses lapses and needs players to play off him, so he's not good in the flex. Corbin wants to run off Jefferson in the post, which is good, but Jefferson HAS to be able to pass out of it, and players have to cut. Maybe the Jazz need to go to a 2-3 offense instead of 1-4 UCLA stuff.
