Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Did you watch the Mavs game? This group is past the honeymoon stage of being underdogs.
I did, and it was miserable. I think they had the deadline in the back of their heads, though, and besides, I want Mike here next year too if the value we get is a swap that very quickly might not even happen. If Zion is back, Pelicans will rise in the standings for sure.

They are an inch away from being out of the tax. They will send out more salary than they take in... Vando for Thybulle and the second rounder.
Got it.

I guess that could make sense then. I'd just rather get someone young and interesting out of it. Springer is like an unrealized Marcus Smart so I think DA might want that. I'd try to figure out a way to make it work.

The swap 100% happens. The swap is with the Philly/Brooklyn pick and the worse of the NOP and Laker pick.

My guess it would be Thybulle and enhancing the Jazz's 2023 HOU/PHI/BKN pick to be in the 2nd position and a 2RP.

That enhanced pick would be a tiny bit sweeter for a Laker deal.
Isnt the trade that got us the pick with BKN? Philly would have no ability to change anything here as far as I know.

JJ isnt really in the breaking news business. If he said it, I think it's likely coming from a genuine place. He's well liked and well connected. Doesnt really need the clout.

I disagree. When someone is completely outside of the reporting business, they have no standard of what they "report". This doesn't mean what he heard isn't real or legitimate, but it could very easily just be gossip. Disregarding how "legit" JJ is, what I don't think makes sense about what he says is that it could be done well before the deadline. I think it will go down to the buzzer, but the Jazz are also likely holding multiple deals in hand so maybe they do want to get the Lakers deal done early.

JJ doesn't have much to gain from this which is a good point, but everyone likes to give out secrets. The Jazz radio guys, however, come off as desperate guys looking for attention and hoping they look extremely smart afterwards. I don't believe anything they say.

Ok, I concede that it's very likely to happen, but I also think it's pretty likely to be 26th for 23rd or something like that. Then again, if Zion and/or BI are out for another extended period of time, it could be 26th for a much better pick, so I do see the upside.

I'd definitely want more, though.

We could take both back.

I loved Springer out of the draft. I think we could get Springer and Thybulle for Vando. Haven't looked at the exact numbers, but maybe moving off of Spring would allow PHI to get into the buyout market and add one more player.

I'd say the gap closes but I think it will at least be 5 spots and could be as many as 10. Zion isn't coming back before AS break I believe.

I think the Pelicans are crazy if they dont make a move, a big move IMO.

Trade Dyson Daniels. Do it. Capitilize on the team you got now. Murphy/Jones/Zion/Ingram/CJ/Jonas should be a core that gets to the conference finals in this weaker conference.

Also think the Warriors are crazy if they dont do a big move as well. Steph's health for the next handful of years isnt a guarantee. Draymond might not be back. Go all the way the **** in and get Steph another ring.

I think if they do Udoka/Vando for Springer/Thybulle it's even money both ways.

Alright... look... if the Lakers are dead set on not including any future first round picks... would you move Mike, KO, Gay for Russ a pick swap with the Philly pick this year and a pocket full of seconds. Lakers also save infinity tax dollars (like $20M this year) and they have salary to attach to their picks for next year when Kyrie gets traded there.

Gay has negative value obvi... Getting out of $30M+ for next year has value. The pick swap has value. Seconds kinda suck but whatevs. I also don't think the Clips deal will come together. We end up with infinity cap space.

It won't jump on Adam Silver's tank radar cuz we help the Lakers. We can sell it as Mike's chance to win a title. It is the ultimate tank move that many have sworn we wouldn't do... so DA zigs to keep everyone guessing.
I don't do the deal on principal. If you do this teams wont take you seriously when you hardball them. The only way they dont give a pick is if we take bad salary from another team and a pick and dump Duncan Robinson on them.

Im starting to get more and more convinced we ship out more than 3 guys. There are so few apparent sellers.

No rumors around some of the lower tier teams.. multiple clubs interested in Eric fkin Gordon etc..

Markets are so empty that DA will likely get his price point on multiple players and likely ends up selling more than I thought few days ago.

There are lots of ways to negotiate… I doubt Ainge loses any clout by bending and finding middle ground… actually might facilitate deals in the future.

If it’s a deal that brings long term value and it’s the best deal on the table… I take it.

I doubt they see Vander as a upgrade to Thybulle . Dok and Vander for Korkmaz and Springer and the CHA 2nd is what works for both orgs imo.
