Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

8 1sts + 3 swaps is still more than 5 1sts plus no swaps.

Lauri is arguably better than Mikal and locked in at a better contract for a longer period of time. Kessler is arguably a better piece than Cam Johnson.

We really pillaged the league with those two moves.

I genuinely cannot believe how stupid the Nets front office is.

We arguably got better value from trading Gobert and Mitchell EACH than the Nets got from trading KD.

I’ve decided we should move JC… he looks kinda checked out lately… it’s understandable.

Apparently Kyle Lowry is done with Miami…hmmmmm
Im with you. It's fire sale time but i would think bigger.

How's about the 2027 Lakers first round (stupidly protected pick) plus JC for Mikal Bridges?

Lets get the pieces we really want. Go for the King, screw the pawns.

I would love Bridges.

With that said if they trade JC it's hopefully to a contender.

Craziness!

My guess is the Nets are willing to trade anyone who is not a versatile Small Forward for Og. Cam Thomson and Royce O'Neal plus a few firsts for OG. Ha ha.

Would yall do...

Kelly O to the Celtics
Future 1st to the Jazz
TPEs to the Warriors for Moody and Wiseman

Moving Olynyk essentially keeps us under the luxury tax while picking up two recent lottery picks for nothing. Likewise, if we can get a first or even a pick swap for KO...

We could legitimately throw in a Ham Sandwich to the Warriors because that would be about all the get back...

But with all that freed up cash, they should be buying everyone on Jazzfanz lunch.

This was from January but I hadnt seen it. I hadn't read that Clarkson was hoping to be traded. Of course, its from Monty so...

Even still, I suspect given today's trades, he is thinking about a trade. Get something for Clarkson, rather than lose him for nothing!

Its been fun, but we have some losing to do.

I disagree strongly… they unprotected picks have the most value. Listened to Russillo the other day talking about how a GM evaluates trades and he said the biggest rule he followed was “what am I guaranteed in this deal”. Knowing you will for sure get a first rounder and knowing the uncertainty provides some upside would be really valuable. The floor on the Lakers pick has some uncertainty and many GMs seem to be afraid of their shadows. I’d rank all the unprotected picks above the Lakers pick. I still think it’s a solid asset though.

Agree to disagree then. Maybe you could argue some of the distant Wolves picks….but the Cavs picks are almost all likely to be in the 20’s. The probability of those picks being top 4 is greater than zero, which is more than the Lakers pick, but not much greater than zero. The expected value of the Lakers picks is wayyyy higher because of the much higher likelihood it falls into a good range, 5-14 for example. And yes, I know that a 1% chance at #1 is better than a 1% better chance at number 5….but the scales are so tipped against us with the unprotected picks. If we’re talking about the whole group of firsts we get from CLE or MIN. Ok maybe, but as individual picks the Lakers pick has the greatest EV in my opinion.

Knowing for sure what you’re getting also both ways. (BTW you completely lost your **** on me for saying that GM’s like to trade in certain terms earlier but I don’t care to reignite that convo.) You don’t know for sure what you’re getting with any of these picks. Can’t make the argument that the Lakers pick isn’t as good because of uncertainty when the upside value of the unprotected picks relies on extreme uncertainty.

The extreme scenarios weight heavy in our minds, but you’ve got to factor in the likelihood of each outcome as well.

Durant is a UFA in 2026 at age 38 and Paul will be an UFA in 2024 at age 40. They really went all the way in. Those Phoenix picks in 27/28/29 will be extremely valuable. I think Brooklyn did extremely well. About as good as you can possibly get.
Nets have also set themselves up nicely for the summer of 2025. If they can move DFS and Simmons they'll have space for two max slots when Tatum, Mitchell, Ingram, and Murray hit the market.

Of course, but I really doubt either the Celtics or the Warriors would.

The Jazz are going to land Moses Moody, James Wiseman, and a future FRP for Kelly Olynyk?

You really have no clue. This trade is great for the nets. They get a great player in Bridges locked into an awesome contract as well as another really good player in Johnson who will be restricted. Then the 25 and later picks could be pure gold with how old and injury prone Durant is.
