2023 NBA Draft Megathread

It was wild. I thought I might be crazy cuz watching the tape he shattered the screen jumping off of it and all people saw was some white guy. Dude obviously can ****ing ball. Has the juice, plays the right way, feel for the game off the charts.

Whenever you can get that Ingles quality where a dude is dogged on because they don’t look the part, grab those dudes and scoop up the benefits.

I understand this comes on the heels of a conversation about Flip, but I just don’t see that with him (… yet?).
Lol this is how I feel about Flip…

Cuz dudes like @Elizah Huge couldn't handle an "expert" being wrong.

Actual NBA front offices selected James Wiseman instead of Lamelo Ball... Anthony Benett was a #1 pick... Nikola Jokic went in the second round... discrediting a site or a group based on a few bad calls will leave you with no sites or groups.
Lol what? You literally brought some dudes I never heard of on here to help boost your take on Flip.

Not my fault you haven't heard of them... they have been around a while now and are producing content like crazy. I gave caveats... it was not to boost my take on Flip... I literally posted like 3 others that had him in the teens and 20s. Their opinions are as valid as KOC or other draft nerds... many who have likely watched a lot less than they have.

It was simply interesting.

I don’t care what anyone else says. Flip is a ****ing baller. He’s a lottery talent.

I've been listening to the No Ceilings guys for a few weeks now. Don't really like them all that much but I need podcast to listen to while I work and they put out content like crazy. I can definitely tell they were big fans of The Stepien dudes because they use very similar verbiage

My biggest issue with them is they agree way too much and are way too positive. I don't listen too often... the site has a nice look and feel and I think they will go farther than some of the other homegrown sites.

Reminder: Actual experts speak with uncertainty not certainty.
My personal philosophy is to acknowledge how hit or miss this stuff can be and I really look for valuable player types and attributes. I also don't like when I can't fit a player in a positional box or role.

If I was the GM I'd be simply betting on the guys that I feel fit the most valuable positions/skillsets and making the best bets on those types. That seems to be where I am the most correct.

For the record, Olynyk is ****ing good and how people can’t separate the game from the box score is kinda wild to me. That kind of spacing, PASSING, and grit on defense at his size is not a common combination of attributes.

If its known that Flip has the chops to play point Center (and really muck up the game for the opposition by being a huge pain in the ***) then my opinion changes on a dime.
Lets not get carried away. Everyone in the nba is good. KO has never been an all star and has bounced around the nba quite a bit and we didn't miss him when he was injured this season.

Vecenie and others had him top 10. I hated Davis... its one of the few things it appears I got right. Its a guessing game and literally every experts rankings would look comically bad in hindsight.

I didn't see it with Johnny Davis. People were raving about him, and he looked like Quentin Grimes to me.

Grimes was a big disappointment until he transferred and had a decent junior season. I don't mind Grimes, but he's not a top-10 pick, which is where Davis was consistently being mocked.
When it's all said and done he will probably just be right outside the top 10 players for his class...

Not to belabor it, but he'd have to jump close to 15 spots in a re-draft -- Mobley, Cade, Giddey, Scottie, Franz, Sengun, Cam Thomas, Green, Kuminga, Suggs, Murphy, Herb Jones...

I mean I’d take him over Suggs and Thomas for sure right now. Kuminga and Jones might drop below him too.

Markkanen/Kessler/Agbaji is a tailored made supporting cast around Luka.

Agreed, but I wonder if we would be able to hold onto Kessler and Ochai if we traded for Luka? I imagine the Mavs would want young talent like Kessler and Ochai in return for Luka, along with a bunch of 1st round picks.
