Following potential 2012 draftees

I like the way Barnes fits in with what may be the future of the team. If Hayward is to be a ball handling, play making SG, Barnes would compliment him as a spot up shooter who can score from anywhere on the court in a variety of ways. He is also a pretty good defender who has the body to handle power SF's.

agree with all that

I can see how MKG would fit in too. The defensive player who brings it, also is good at slashing, finishing, and drawing contact. I guess it all depends on his outside shot. Also, how would he do in a half-court offense? Seems like a worst case Brewer, best case Marion.

Davis and Gilchrist. Just giving these two some props. In their last two games (#4 Louisville and Ark Little-rock) they've outrebounded the entire other team. Totals are 55 to 47 for the two games.

Sorry, but that's just wow.

I don't think Barnes' ceiling is much higher than 12 - 14 ppg though. I'd need to see Barnes score against some athletic defenders to believe he's going to do better in the league than Evan Turner.

No way, I see Barnes being on Luol Deng's level. Barnes will be able to average at least 16-18 ppg at an efficient level.

Barnes = Glenn rice

mkg= grant hill

My best comparison. Can't go wrong either way, but a healthy grant hill clone would be awesome.

Deng is a stud. You could do a lot worse drafting a guy and having him be a Deng clone.

With the third pick in a supposedly loaded draft, one would think you could get someone better than Deng. With a pick like that you should be getting a potential superstar, not a potential fringe All-Star.

I don't know if you are comparing Barnes to Deng, because that's a terrible comparison, or just saying that Barnes will average around the same amount of ppg.

You see, as an admitted Duke homer, Deng > Barnes. Yes, Barnes can definitely shoot better than Deng. However Deng can actually do more than one thing, like rebound (which Barnes is decent at), pass, block, steal, drive....those types of things, Barnes can shoot, that's it. I would take Deng over Barnes any day.

My number one guy is MKG. I think his shooting will come around. The few games I have seen him play his stroke doesn't look to bad. He can handle the ball and is an excellent defender and rebounder. I would scream with joy if the Jazz drafted him. The most impressive quality is his drive/toughness. I think he wants to be great and believes he can do it.

I would be ok with Barnes but my main problem with him is his ability to create his own shot. When the offense breaks down can he take a guy off the dribble. I don't really see that in his game. He plays tentatively many times. I would still be happy if the Jazz drafted him but I would rather have MKG.

Davis is on my radar now. I thought he was too skinny but the kid is putting up some impressive numbers.

In Davis' last several games, he has become the undisputed #1 pick, imo. Against #4 Louisville, Davis had 18pts, 10rbs, and 5 blocks ... in the 2nd half. His confidence has just taken hold in the past several games and it's made a world of difference in his game. Now he's hitting shots from the perimeter (not 3's, but standing on the line, twice) and has twice drawn fouls shooting the 3 .. he'll be unbelievable (no hyperbole) another 10 games into this season.

With everyone stating this is such a deep draft is it plausable to think there are no 'Stars' in this draft but a bunch of good producing role players? That isn't a shot at anyone but is there any Durant/Lebron/Paul/Williams type players that you guys can see being a leader of a team? Of course we would love to get one with the Jazz pick but when looking at many of these players I can see many very good players that will be in the league a long time but not any real dominate players like Durant was at Texas.

Thoughts?

I believe that either or both of Drummond or Davis could be a superstar. Having said that, I don't see any sure-fire Lebron's, Kobe's, Durant's, etc. I see a draft that could be 15 deep of #2 options.

This.

There aren't any picks as "safe" as Durant and Lebron were (Shabazz Muhammad will be though), but guys like Drummond and Davis are through the roof on the potential scale.

I can also easily see Kidd-Gilchrist becoming much more than a Gerald Wallace or Andre Iguodala as many people have pegged him to be.
