2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Such an lol stat for a guy that yacked on everyone all year. But okay. Same as being concerned about a player's 20-foot jumpshot when they shoot >40% from 3.

Ya that list of # of dunks that was posted had a bunch of dudes on it on tay henny had the 2nd most dunks. So im not concerned

So you think dunking in the AAC or NBA is easier?

.

The hoops are 10 feet high in both right? More spacing in the nba right?
Im gonna say nba is easier. Would be interesting to know if more total dunks happen n nba or college. Having watched a lot of ball i feel like i see more dunks when i watch nba games than college games but I dont know.

He tried to recreate the Warriors with the Hawks. No idea how much imput he would have with the Wizards, but if he does he might push for high level versatile shooters. I'm not really sure there are many/any of those in the Wizards range of the draft? Gradey Dick... I guess? Jordan Hawkins as a proxy to Klay? Taylor Hendricks might be the best bet at 8.
But it didn’t work out.. ?

So maybe he’s learnt his lesson and could now be going the traditional PG route and grab Black instead?

Bilal is the most athletic upside role player in the draft? The Twins seem to be more "Him" prospects, which might not appeal to a team like OKC who already has Him.

Watching the Thompson's athleticism is like watching an NBA 2K video game. Amazing!

The next harold miner! (I think that was his name. Called him baby jordan iirc. Never very good tbh.)

No way he’s a top 5 prospect, c’mon now…

Wemby, Scoot, Miller, Amen, Ausar … those alone makes 5.
OKC has no desire for Scoot. Miller might be ahead for them, but he's much harder to get. I don't think the twins make much sense for OKC, but they could love Ausar. Amen's consensus projection doesn't fit OKC.

OKC and Orlando already have really great primary and secondary options. They don't really need to hunt for big time primary stars. Bilal makes too much sense for them and is very much their type. I think they will battle each other for Bilal and we might see something wild like Orlando taking him with their first pick.

OKC already have Giddey and SGA at the guard spots.. what they really need is a wing or a center…

At where they’re picking I would have thought Lively or Dick (or GG) would make much more sense..

Wasserman just dropped his new mock (he’s the one reporting Bilal has a promise before 14):

1. Wemby
2. Scoot
3. B. Miller
4. Amen
5. Whitmore
6. Black
7. Walker
8. Ausar
9. Dick

Without an obvious star on the board, the Jazz could value Dick's sure-thing shooting and look to mirror the Miami Heat's success by loading up on shot-making. Utah could be drawn to the strategy of building with the firepower/spacing provided by Dick and Lauri Markkanen alongside Walker Kessler's offensive efficiency and rim protection.

10. Hendricks
11. George
12. Lively
13. Bilal
14. NSJ
15. Wallace
16. JHS

The Jazz could pass on guards at No. 9 with the idea that Hood-Schifino, Wallace or Kobe Bufkin could be there at No. 16. Hood-Schifino's positional size and length, prolific pull-up game and flashy passing have led to scouts picturing enticing upside for a prospect who'll be available in the late lottery to mid-first round.

17. Bufkin
18. Hawkins
19. Howard
20. Podz
22. L. Miller
28. Bailey
31. GG

I've fallen out of love with the Thompson Twins. They have great athletic talent, but their shot looks broken to me. There is no guarantee their shot will get fixed once they get to the pros. I saw a video of one of their games and their three-point shooting looks like they are just launching it. I am hoping the Jazz swing for a wing with #9 and a PG at 16. I am hoping JHS will be there at 16 and Hendricks at #9.

Never buy open gym shooting… Derek Lively is banging threes in workouts too. All these guys can shoot in an open gym.
Yep. Shooting in empty gyms is the most worthless thing ever.

I went to a jazz summer league scrimmage and they did a 3 point shooting competition. Rudy freaking Gobert made 8 out of 20 threes iirc. Now i know 8-20 isnt good when no one is guarding you but still better than most people think gobert could shoot.

I bet he could shoot 70% from three if he was stationary and had someone feeding him the ball perfectly and they only showed a highlight from when he was hot.

Tldr version: a highlight video in an empty gym could make gobert look like a great three point shooter.
