Does anyone else think Josh Green is a good comp for Anthony Black?
Not directly, but if Black can't shoot the ball and he doesn't have an offensive scheme built around his playmaking, then he starts to profile as a defensive 2/3 like Green.

Its ugly AF... I get it. I think you can make spot up threes at a decent rate while shooting ugly. I think Ricky Rubio as a shooter might be his ceiling. He will not have the issues at the rim that Ricky did... and it was really that combo that hurt him at times.
He won't be that level of passer but might have a higher ceiling as a defender.
Josh Green can shoot a bit though. He's not an awful shooter, but he's not a volume shooter. And I would say Green is really expanding his game if you've watched this past season. Not directly, but if Black can't shoot the ball and he doesn't have an offensive scheme built around his playmaking, then he starts to profile as a defensive 2/3 like Green.
I legit think there are a lot of similarities between Black and Scottie Barnes.
I was actually considering exploring this: Whitmore's assist rate compared to NBA players' assist rates as college freshmen. Luckily for me, Jimmy Butler was the first player I looked at.Yeah, definitely prefer him to take the 3s over pull up 2s... but the pullup 2s he takes do serve as somewhat of a sign about how comfortable he is taking not just pullup 2s but any pull ups. I think my biggest worry with Whitmore is actually his playmaking and passing/vision. I think this is what actually might be the differnce between him being a star or not. Who's the last perimeter player star who had like... 1 assist per 40 in college? Is there ANY such player... EVER?
What a weird thing to say. If you don't think he's a mix of 3 specific players he's not worthy of being drafted?I don’t know that Black will shoot it as well as Green and I think he will be way more on ball/involved with offensive actions. If you think Black is going to be similar to Green I would not draft him. Green is more a track athlete… run jump bouncy guy… black is strong and a good functional athlete but not the same. Sorry… just don’t see it.
If you don’t think Black is some version/combo of Giddey, Rubio, Caruso… then don’t draft him.
If Black were a couple inches taller and like 8 inches longer, then maybe. But Black doesn't have that kind of length or scoring presence at the rim. He's not going to score over or around bigs in the paint.
I think Sidy only works if you don't think rebounding is important from your SF. Based on per 36 stats, even if he rebounded just as well in the NBA as in the G-League this year, he would be the single worst rebounding forward in the entire league.Bilal... nah... Sidy... yeah.
Sidy os a sf now? I don't like the argument about rebounding either given Miller and others lived in the paint and often Sidy was playing off Scoot.I think Sidy only works if you don't think rebounding is important from your SF. not really, the ceiling in that department is legit, but he has no glass magic as isWait… what? Black is one of the best finishers at the rim in the draft.
ThisI will also point out Black being a full-time PG at the college level was not by design. He was supposed to share those reps with NSJ, but NSJ spent most of the year injured. Had Nico Mannion been injured like NSJ, we might have seen Green assume a similar role on Arizona.
He did play next to pretty good rebounders. Hard to say if it's really an issue. I've never heard anyone discuss it as a weakness and I never noticed when I watched Ignite games.I think Sidy only works if you don't think rebounding is important from your SF. In the recent national team games he averaged 5 rebounds in 21 mpg.
I think you need more than a single year sample size. Like I said, he averaged 5 per game in 21 mpg last year in national play. That's pretty goodIt's true that he had some good rebounders next to him.
But Scoot managed 77% more rebounds/per time unit than he did, so it's not like there were just no rebounds to be had.
I've thought for a long time that rebounding is one of those things that you either have or you don't. But I guess there's always exceptions. Maybe he bucks the trend here?
Or maybe he's a guard? I'd be surprised if that's his NBA position, but I haven't watched all that much to have a strong opinion.
