2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Our guy TJ on Bill Riley today... didn't give much intel but said something kinda wild... says if Jarace Walker hits 100% of his potential that he could be Kawhi Leonard.

I don't see it but thought it was fun.

Another thing Tony mentioned is that the Jazz would like the 1st round pick they owe OKC to convey next year.

**** out of here with that negative bs. We almost fell *** backwards into the play-in game on accident this year.
We almost fell into the play-in because of a 10-3 start where everyone was playing out of their minds to start the year. Lol

We don’t have shooting. Unless we spend money or rookies play out of their minds. I don’t see it.

Jazz were 6-14 over their final 20 games this year (.300). Now imagine that we're starting the season without Clarkson and potentially without THT.
You mean guys that had almost no impact on winning (except when THT won two games because the Jazz didn't think he could win games against other tanking teams on his own)?

I would be for that. Move up this year and just commit to sacrificing next year’s pick. Jazz probably aren’t bottom 10 team next year anyway, so that pick is probably going to OKC as is.
The pick will convey sooner or later. That's the thing I think people aren't calculating. If it doesn't convey next year, it is almost certain to in 2025 or 2026. We wouldn't just duck owing a pick if next year goes poorly.

This is from Jake Fischer. Would anyone trade up from 16 to 12 by getting rid of protections on the 2024 first we owe OKC?
This is a pure gamble play for both teams and I think it makes sense for both teams. The Thunder mostly own a bunch of protected picks so it's maybe worth the dice roll that the Jazz get their comeuppance that they didn't get last year. For the Jazz, they can extract value from a debt by betting on themselves.

Fascinating idea. I do it. I really think the Jazz are sending the pick next year anyway and I think that's the plan, also. Those four slots will likely contain four of:
-Wallace
-Bufkin
-George
-JHS (I'm not a fan but I'm no longer a hater)
-Miller
-Dick
... most of whom will not be at 16.

I mean we pretty much shut down Kessler, Lauri, Clarkson, and Sexton. THT getting heavy minutes was NOT a plus.
It was a plus for him as I'm still not confident he actually is a benefit to legit lineups. But if his assignment is to just have the ball in his hands all game, then grab the popcorn. It's fun but it's not quality basketball.

It’s a legit pathway to getting someone like Jarace/Hendricks AND Wallace/Bufkin.
