Draft Haters List

I’ve never given him a pass for anything, I don’t even want him.

I never threw any shade at his shooting, or athleticism, what are talking about?
You literally said you don’t know if his shooting or athleticism will translate.

I will say it’s easier to have 1 or 2 for games as a guard compared to bigs who generally get lots of layups and putbacks

Also easier for guards to have 30 point games since they touch the ball more often.

Another thing on Hendricks.

He has a pretty similar profile to Keegan Murray from last year. Basically the exact same size, but Keegan was the stastically superior shot blocker (not by a ton, but stats say better, plus he did it in a better conference).

That shot blocking has not translated to the NBA (as of yet at least). So the people who think this archetype just has a clean translation, it doesn't.

He is a sleeper for us at 16 but I think the odds he goes higher than 16 are greater now but we are not taking him at 9. No superstar upside imo
I see no chance he is there at 16. I wouldn't say he has super-star upside, but I think he can be a top 10 PG in the NBA which gives him a shot at making some all-star games.

Yeah I get that, I am pretty much saying I think he is gone before 16 now but we wouldn't take him at 9. But who the f knows

I think you are probably right. I think the Jazz will take a chance on an athletic type at 9 (Walker/Black/Hendricks/Thompson/Whitmore) and try to trade back up from 16 to get either Bufkin/JHS/George/Wallace.

No idea who is the preferred target in either of those groupings, but I feel fairly confident that's the general thought process from Utah.

Maybe in that first grouping there is a very preferred target that you would forgo your selection at 16 to move up to get (Walker/Whitmore?), but I think I would be surprised if any of those guys are clearly ahead to the point where you would have them higher than another player from that group and a player from the guard group.

I’m not too keen on George, but other than that I’d be happy with any combination out of those two groups. With Black we’d double up on guards, but I’m willing to overlook that.

Assuming there’s no major surprises in the top 9, the Jazz are guaranteed one of Scoot, B. Miller, Whitmore, Walker, Black, Hendricks, Amen or Ausur.

At that point, they’re also guaranteed one of Wallace, Bufkin, Dick, Couliably, JHS, L. Miller and/or George/Hawkins/Lively/Cissoko.

Combine almost any combination of players from those two groups and it’s been a good draft.

16 and take Bertans to get 10. At 10 we take JHS. Who are you hoping fell to #9 in that scenario?
I’m down with trading up from both picks tbh. Jazz have assets and a relatively strong draft to work with. Start laying the foundation now, with young guys that have high upside and hope one or both pop off and become stars to team up with Lauri and Walker. Beyond that, the Jazz have the potential to add premium players in 26, 27, 28 & 29 with little to no effort needed - or make another big trade down the line.

Ideally, I’d like to see them trade up for Whitmore or Walker and then whoever they have rated as the highest player who drops to 10.

Brandin "Poor man's Jimmer" Podziemski

Or...

Nick "Floater" Smith Jr

I will make my final pick after I see where they get drafted.
I guess my final choice will be NSJ, since Podziemski fell in one of the best places for him so he might actually turn into a rotational player...
