2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

Listened to Fred Katz on the Knicks Film School Podcast... mentioned they already have a minutes issue. If the Donte deal happens they have like 2 too many rotation players. He was also asked if he though IQ was more likely to be traded before season, in season, or end the year on the team. He said end the year on the team but didn't deny a pre-season deal potential. Seemed like a 30/70 type of thing. Said he doubts he'd be moved in season which makes sense to me.

I think IQ/JC backcourt is kinda interesting. If it was like Sexton and an unprotected pick for Evan/IQ and the Washington pick they own that is more likely to be a couple good second rounders... I think that would help them keep the powder dry while having some interesting salary matching. Just think a crowded backcourt with a guy in a contract year like IQ would become a Cam Reddish situation they want to avoid.
The Knicks aren't trading firsts. I think that has been established at this point. They are loading up for a Doncic Sweepstakes is the rumor. We may have a bidding war for him if Dallas decides to release him.

Speaking of which, it’s being reported that the Knicks are favorites to land Divincenzo. For some reason.
Knicks step on my toes which causes speculation that leads to HH stepping on KqWIN’s toes. Somewhere in here KqWIN is going to end up stepping on LoPo’s toes, just not sure how yet.

I know... which is why in the deal I proposed we give an unprotected pick from either Cleveland or Minny and take their Washington pick which is protected to the point it is very likely to become two seconds. They get a far better and more tradeable asset.

Whether FVV would help or not is fairly irrelevant. Zanik and Hardy have both talked about liking bigger “combo” guards. I don’t think he’s an option for them.

One final thing on a potential Quickley deal. I would think the Cleveland picks we own would be of particular interest to NY. If they were to revisit a Donovan trade down the road those picks would be potentially more valuable to Cleveland in a trade as it would open up possibilities for trading additional picks or just limit the optics of giving up a very valuable pick. I don't know that IQ is worth one of those picks straight up in today's market as first seem pretty sparse on the trade market. That's why I thought the Sexton, cavs pick for IQ Washington protected pick + Fournier for salary is pretty solid. They also need to clear a little bit of salary to use the full MLE on Donte and stay below the tax.

You mean like Keonte? smh he is not a big combo guard just an average sized one, and tbh I doubt he is even the listed 6'4" height he went by at Baylor. He wasn't meaured at the combine.
I will be curious to see if he is taller though lol
imo you have to use a higher bar for your discretion, regarding the things talked about out of context like likes and dislikes smh. Everyt coach loves having more positional versatility, few have it.
All that being said, we are not going to go after Fred unless the market for him is suddenly the same as it is for THT right now . I mean we have enough damn guards as is. If we do go after an upgrade pg, it will be via trade moving Sexton THT or Clarkson probably Clarkson.
My idea is simple: we trade Clarkson to Philly to help facilitate Harden to Houston. Houston sends an unprotected first in 25 , Eason and Whitmore to Philly. Rockets give us Kevin Porter Jr.
Porter looked solid running the point , has positional size you say they are quoted wanting, can shoot and defend, and can be used 1-3 if they decide he isn't the guy they want calling the shots no problem he can be our closer. AND he is on a great deal

He’s not a big combo guard, but he’s a bigger PG. you knew what I meant. There’s a difference in a 6’4 guard and a 6’1 guard.
