2023 NBA Free Agency Thread

I’m not really bummed about not getting Reaves I just wish someone offered him a bigger contract than that.
It’s criminal. The league needed to iron out and make sense of the early bird **** because it makes no sense.

I mean, 2nd rounders/undrafted players should definitely be penalized for… existing basically.

It’s ****ing robbery.

I’m so ****ing pissed. 100% chance a large percentage of the contracts signed with cap space that could’ve been spent on a Reaves offer sheet will end up being negative value.

But you know the one team with cap space that owns a Lakers draft pick and would directly benefit on both sides of the offer sheet? The ****ing Jazz. Oh, right, but KO is gonna be a starter on a contender in three years. That’s right. My bad.

Oh no! They might match the offer! Then they’d have to pay out a fair salary at least and hurt their situation in the year they owe us a draft pick! THEN WE’D BE OUT KELLY OLYNYK!!!

There is absolutely nothing you can do with cap space after the first week of free agency and your team will be contracted out of the league if you don’t reach the salary floor :o :o :o !!!

What makes everyone think Reeves would have entertained an offer from Utah? You are forgetting there are two sides to this equation. This young man gets to play for one of the most storied franchises in NBA history, next to one of the greatest players to ever play the game, in one of the world’s most desirable cities. And will get over $50 million to do so. I’m not sure he/his agent would even return the Jazz’s call and risk the Lakers not matching.

Mind you, I am saying this as a die hard Jazz fan who grew up in Salt Lake and wouldn’t be caught dead living in LA myself. I just think those of you upset that the Jazz didn’t offer him a contract is silly given you have no idea if he was even interested in talking with anyone but LA.

Jazz are holding off because Austin Reaves isn't all that and they likely have other trades they may be considering.

He and his agent would both have to be incredibly stupid to not sign a large offer sheet when the Lakers guaranteed they'd match anything.

It's not robbery, they drafted him.

I'm sure he wanted to make sure he stayed in LA as well. He got a 7 figure shoe deal. He ain't getting that anywhere else.
